I know I could wade back into the big thread on the Ordinary - but I'm lazy and don't wanna.
The AHA I've been using for...oh...2 years now? if finally running out. Very gentle lactic acid. (st. ives face pad thingies that have been discontinued for ages. I stockpiled them, but now it's all over) I'm using it generally for fine lines and some texture, evening, etc. Seems to help. I like it. (Hard to suss out what was due to that vs. the 25243647 other products I use, but hey, let's assume it's doing what it says)
I've got some redness in my cheeks that annoys me, so I'm considering switching to Azelaic acid. So...http://theordinary.com/product/rdn-azelaic-acid-suspension-10pct-30ml
Is there anything else I NEEEEED while I'm placing an order there? And would you go with that, or something else? Or does somebody else make an azelaic acid that somebody loves so much better?

I use, and love the Azelaic from TO. I apply it in the AM, and I like the way the finish feels. Almost a satin/primer like finish.
My other faves from TO are: Buffet Vitamin C suspension 30% (new, just got it about a week ago, but I really like it) Glycolic Acid toner 100% squalane oil Alpha lipoic acid 5%

what is the squalane actually supposed to do? what does it feel like? It's an oil but it's not greasy?

I use it about twice a week in the evening as a moisturizer. It's an oil, so I think it feels oily.. but it absorbs well and doesn't make my skin feel oily/greasy after 15 minutes or so. I'll probably use it more often in the colder weather.

I love, love, love the Azelaic and the 5% Lactic Acid. I do an every other day sort of thing with them at night. I really feel they are helping my skin, both the redness and the fine lines.
Yes lactic Acid 5% and Azaleic Acid. Also, their retinoids are super gentle, so you could begin incorporating that.
I was thinking it might finally be time to dip my toe into that pool...
Definitely do not start with the 1% retinol - the 1% made me very, very red (so I use it on my chest). Go with a retinoid. They look to have some different options than when they first started being on offer.
