We met with the pediatric orthopedic yesterday. He did say one word which could have been the diagnosis, and I didn't write it down. I thought it would be in his chart or on the paperwork, but it wasn't. It started with an A, and now I feel like an idiot I forgot it so quickly. It wasn't hip dysplasia. He may have sent it to PT, so I could ask them when we get in to see them.
Anyway, hips are loose turning inward, tight going outward. Toes are tight from clenching them for balance. Hamstrings are tight. He mentioned he thought he had too much muscle tone. It could have been he was resisting them, but DS said he wasn't.
Definitely a referral to PT.
He asked if we had done neurology before and I said no. The ENT had just said PT for balance issues. Hearing issues are Eustachian tube dysfunction. He asked about vestibular dysfunction, and I said the ENT said if he could roll on the doctor stool which he was doing during the visit, that it wasn't vestibular dysfuntion. And he said well there are different degrees of it which makes sense/ could be true.
He didn't say we had to go to neurology at this time, just PT. I knew we have needed PT for years, but he was catching up. But he can't ride the bike or do the scooter, so that I thought he is not catching up on that. The rest of the stuff is pretty normal and he learns well with sports instruction.
Hope the PT helps! DD also can't ride a bike or scooter, so we've just started PT, too.
That could be it. Thanks!
I tried calling PT but they can't do the scheduling for that office. So then they sent a message to that office to call me. No word yet, but it was the Friday before a holiday weekend. So maybe I'll hear from them by Wednesday.
I just got the order and it says femoral anteversion. He had just said anteversion, so that was why I wasn't sure. PT eval is this Thursday. I'm glad to get the ball rolling. It is every other week at 3, so I don't have to take him out of school except maybe 20 min. I found a place 15 minutes away, so hopefully it will work out as they were the closest and that was what could accommodate the school schedule. We could go weekly once her schedule opens up.
