I'm up getting ready for a very long, very wet run. Tempted to push it off until tomorrow but I'm already up and I reallly want to be able to sleep in tomorrow.
Slept 10 hours and it felt great! Kappy and I went for a walk and now I'm drinking coffee while he lays on me. I have a massage at 10:30 and then we have an event with my H's family in Columbus.
I was awakened at 6a by a "hey do you want to swim" text. So i did that. Just before the rain started. I was going to go to otf, but now im glad i didnt. I sort od just want to stay inside and eat, this weather is so gloomy. I might bake bread later.

I'm up sipping coffee after 10 amazing hours of sleep. Headed to church in a bit and then off to rebuild/fix the fence at my rental property that blew down last weekend.
Good morning. I haven't posted much on the boards lately, but I have my first half on 10/1. I am just looking to finish, maybe around 2:30-2:40. I'm up to 8 miles and didn't feel too bad yesterday doing that. I was running in Nike Free RN up to my 7 miler, my foot cramped like hell, not enough support. I just bought Brooks Ghost 10 and after getting the laces squared away on a shorter run, I did the 8 with no foot pain, yay! I've been a bit of a slacker on training, basically my long run and two 3-5 mile runs during the week, OTF thrown in once a week or so. I had about a week and a half I took off in August due to a back injury (from OTF I think). Anyways, my question...
If I taper down the weekend before the half, I only have 2 weekends with long runs left. Would you do a 9 and then 10 miler? Or 10 and 12 miler? Or use that 3rd weekend? Or other? I'll try to get in as many other runs as I can.
I finally went to masters swim and basically they did not welcome me lol. The guy I emailed said it's all levels but when I got there she said to come back when I could swim 1,000 yards in sets of 200 without rest, which I can't do.
So I left and went to the other end of the pool and swam by myself, probably did about 800-900 yards total. (With many breaks)
Meeting a bike friend at 10 for a let's just ride ride. He has to be home by noon, so we can't get too crazy. Then I think a last pool day, since it's supposed to be 97.

I taught this morning at 9 which was a struggle because I randomly pulled a back muscle yesterday at a cookout. Wtf?! Not even sure what happened - I bent down to pull our cooler bag toward me and when I stood up it was like someone stabbed me. It would spasm and hurt so bad it felt like I needed to go the the ER, then it would let up a bit. Took a handful of Advil and that got the spasm to let up mostly. Based on location it seems to be one of the small muscles near the lateral. I took half a muscle relaxer at bedtime and now it feels like it does when you sleep on something the wrong way. Glad I didn't take a whole one because I was in a serious fog when I woke. I modified as needed during my class which was really only when I was holding weight with my right arm alone and I backed off my punches a bit on the right. Damn I hope this goes away soon.

Had the broncos 7k this morning. Wasn't planning to race it after my 18 yesterday (and with it being 85 degrees 😭) but I managed to average 9:14 and get a PR on that course so I'm satisfied. Saw some teammates and my h also participated so that was fun too.
I survived 31 hilly ass miles. Thanks to mandiespharm , I had company for the first 4 or so. I also crushed a huge hill that's part of my Oct race, even though I trashed my quads on others (thankfully not in my race) that I unknowingly included in the route. Nice of me to look at the elevation profile in MMR and think it "doesn't look bad"- wtf??? My nutrition was great, no bonks, and I managed to escape the torrential rain. I needed this confidence boost today. I'm feeling pretty good about making the first cutoff point of my Oct race so I'm happy.
