Anyone in the path? I don't think we have any FL ladies here now, do we?
My grandma is in SoFL and my amazing husband was able to find her a $99 flight tomorrow night to CT. My mom is so relieved we are getting grandma out of there.

I'm in the FL panhandle but I think most models are showing we won't be hit. My parents and extended family live near St. Augustine so they may have to evacuate.

I'm here outside of Orlando! The stores are insane, people are taking it seriously. Being the skeptic that I am, I don't foresee it being *too* bad here, but it's still too early to tell. Either way, we are definitely prepared if we lose power. I'm honestly hoping a curfew goes into effect, because that's the only way I won't have to go into work.

Stay safe and keep us posted if you can. I hope you can stay home and not worry about work.
I have a sister who lives near Ft Lauderdae and she's being pretty breezy about it....makes me nervous. She did mention she has a hotel reservation somewhere inland and has a place t go in Boca... but Boca is still on the coast.
My dad is in Boca - we just came back from visiting the other day. They already have their shutters up and all supplies, including a generator. They live on a barrier island so the big concern for them is storm surge. They have a house about 5 miles inland they can evacuate to if need be, but they are waiting to make the call. I hate worrying about them.

Stay safe unclejesse Glad the grandmas are leaving jaime183 and @foozle. I have a dear friend in Miami. Her family is shuttering up and driving out with the pets tomorrow.
I have more Florida family than PA family. I offered our home if either my brother or my sister want to leave the state. Both are on the east coast, one in Jax and my sister is by Daytona. I know she's got her shutters up and they are prepping the house and the business. I'm not sure about my nephews which live near her. I know my sister so I'm sure she's prepping their houses. They had a ton of damage from Charlie so I can only image.
I am devastated seeing the photos coming out of St. Martin. We were there about a month ago on our anniversary trip and it was one of the most beautiful places I've been. And the people were so wonderful, I am so sad for them.

Hope everyone is staying safe! The Carolinas are in the path, but luckily it'll weaken to a cat 3 before it hits our coast. Apparently it's taking a somewhat similar path that another hurricane did in '89 that caused a lot of damage here, so people here are freaking out.

How far inland are you guys?
About 200 miles from the coast. But winds are still going to be damaging. With the last big hurricane we got the power was out for 2 weeks, there was flooding, and tons of torn up buildings.

I've got a ton of friends and family in the path, mostly at the GA/SC border. I've got a bunch of people coming to crash at our house for the unforeseen future. Our small house is about to get a whole lot smaller.

My grandma is in the air! The flight took off about a half hour late because of all of the traffic for the runways, but she is officially en route to CT!
I know my mom is relieved. Grandma lives in Boca, which is pretty close to where landfall is most likely. She is too old to be out of power and stuck in the house for days or weeks. And at this point, there is a chance we are keeping her up here permanently anyway. It was being talked about before all of this started.

My parents live 5 miles outside of a city under mandatory evacuation yet they are still debating leaving or staying!! They are near St. Augustine and I'm trying to get them to come to my house in the panhandle.
oh man this is scary. I've been obsessively reading about it even though it won't affect me, I feel so upset for everyone in the path especially on those little islands where they were hit so hard. so very sad.
Can only hope it loses intensity quickly once it hits Florida and as little damage as possible is done, though I know there will be huge damage. Can only hope that all the preparedness will help, hoping for no more fatalities.
Stay safe people! They're talking tropical storm winds even when it reaches us in TN
Yup. Atlanta is starting to freak out. No water in the stores. Places are starting to run out of gas. I was supposed to have friends evacuate to here, but they changed their plans when they saw it was coming right this way.
Really, I'm just worried about being slightly inconvenienced by not having water or power for a couple of days. Other than that, we'll be fine.
Latest projection is a lot better for my parents in Boca - they are staying in their house instead of evacuating inland. However now it looks really bad for Naples which is where my aunt and uncle live. They evacuated yesterday, but only to Orlando.
