I am currently reading Borne by Jeff Vandermeer. It's decent. I'm not sure where it is going and I like that about it. I'm also reading Martin Van Buren by Widmer. I'm slowly progressing through my own presidential reading challenge. I didn't know much about Van Buren at all before starting this so it's interesting. I'm listening to Joe Hill's The Fireman. It's good, but I recently changed my job and my commute went from 45 minutes to 15 minutes (which is great for everything but my audiobook time).
QOTW: I love football! I like pretzels with spicy mustard as my snack.
I'm still working on Cannibalism: A Perfectly Natural History.
QOTW: I hate football, so no I won't be watching. Luckily my H isn't a fan either, so the only football on in my house will be if the Seahawks make it to the playoffs much later in the year, in which case it will be mostly background noise. I do like Super Bowl parties though, because that's an excuse to eat junk food. My IBS is flaring like a mofo right now so I'm limiting dairy, but I could kill for some spicy nachos.
I'm reading The Lost Letter by Jillian Cantor. I'm enjoying it. It's set in 1989, just around the time of the fall of the Berlin Wall. It flashes back to 1939 Austria. A Jewish stamp engraver has to hide to avoid the Nazis. His non-Jewish apprentice takes over the work when he's commanded to make stamps for the Deutches Reich. In 1989, a woman who's father has early onset dementia takes his stamp collection to be appraised by a dealer. The dealer discovers an undelivered letter with a very unique stamp. Adventure, history, romance ensue.
QOTW - College football has started! My Ags, however, GAVE AWAY a 34 point lead against UCLA last weekend, losing by one point (44-45 UCLA.) I love party and snack foods. One of my favorite game day snacks is grilled bacon wrapped stuffed jalapenos. YUM!
This sounds like my kind of book! Thanks for adding to my never ending TBR list.
