I just finished Seeing Red by Sandra Brown. Her books are always fast paced and fun. Basically brain candy--I enjoyed it! I think Six of Crows is up next.
QOTW: DH is thrilled football is back on and plans on planting himself on the couch on Sunday and not moving. I am ambivalent. I will watch the Texans if they are on but I won't go out of my way to do so.
I'm reading A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles in preparation for the book club discussion here. I am only about 50 pages in but I really like it so far.
QOTW: I used to be a huge football fan but the concussion issue and the treatment of men like Kaepernick are making me disgusted with it. H still watches it so it will still be on in the background I'm just not actively watching it really anymore. But favorite game day snack is probably jalapeno poppers.
I finished A Year in Provence and I'm now reading Into the Water by Paula Hawkins.
Qotw: We don't really watch football. The only game we might watch is the Superbowl and even then it is usually playing in the background while we are doing something else. I like making buffalo chicken nachos when I know we will "watch" the Superbowl.

I'm slowing chipping away at the Night Circus. It's ok, but I'm ready for the different plots to tie together and move faster.
QOTW: Not a big football fan, sometimes I'll phase in and out if my husband's home during the game. I'd have to go with a good buffalo chicken or 7 layer dip. Mmmm unhealthy snacks.
Read last week: Feeling Hot by Elle Kennedy - romance; 3 stars; the beginning is a little off-putting but it gets much better and develops a plot All Our Wrong Todays by Elan Mastai - sci-fi; 4.5 stars; if you read and liked 'Dark Matter', you'll like this I think! It's a little sci-fi but it's got a lot of family/relationship dynamics to it too
Did Not Finish: Truth or Beard by Penny Reid - romance; The heroine, Jessica, was annoying as heck, I couldn't do it. Maybe the other books are better though in this series?
Currently reading: Kushiel's Dart by Jacqueline Carey - fantasy/romance; this book is huge and some parts I really like but other parts are a little boring I have to say The Viscount and the Vixen by Lorraine Heath - historical romance; so far it's pretty good - I'm interested in discovering what the real backstory is for the heroine

I'm rereading The Tempest in preparation for auditions on Sunday. Not sure I'll finish it by then but I at least wanted to get a feel for the text. I'm in rehearsal for Much Ado About Nothing, so I'm good on the rhythm and meter and hoping that will help my audition.
QOTW: Not much into sportsball (though I do love sportspuck). That "crack" buffalo chicken dip is some delicious horribleness, though.
I'm finishing up the fifth Harry Potter and will reread the 6th one next. I'm going to start something new soon as well. I'm thinking Misery by Stephen King or I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings.
QOTW: I love college football and will watch all day every Saturday in between reading and snacking. Usually I make buffalo chicken dip with Frito scoops and a veggie tray.

QOTW: Chips and dip, always
Overall I'm really liking the series, but there's usually half of the couple that I'm not really thrilled with. Jessica was the one in the first. I really liked the steaminess and stories, but sometimes the characters get in the way. I've read through 3 and I'll keep going, but I totally understand what you're saying.
I'm reading Dead Wake and enjoying it. Learning a lot too!!
QOTW: I like sports but my husband doesn't so we rarely watch, especially since we don't own a tv! I like all the foods! Chips and guacamole!
I had such a love/hate relationship with this book. It was so fascinating, yet so dull at the same time. I was so eager to learn all the details, but I think the writing style didn't work for me.
I'm reading Riveted by Jay Crownover. I JUST WANT TO BE DONE. I've enjoyed her other books, but I'm burned out and the plot in this one is just flat out ridiculous. I'm 80%, so I'm not quitting, but it's really cutting into my enjoyable reading.
I'm finishing up Sarah's Key in a few minutes on audio. I think I'm late to this book party by at least 5 years. I liked the story, but I was waiting for a GOTCHA moment and that didn't happen.
QOTW: DH and I aren't anti sports or anything, but it just doesn't even register on our interest radar. I live in Patriots and Red Sox Nation and we're practically shunned 6 months out of the year lol. However, I do adore game day food. I'm a sucker for any kind of dip.

that's kind of funny. I also started a Polk biography and am perusing a book on homeschooling. None of them are grabbing my attention a whole lot, but Dead Wake is for book club and is on my kindle so I read that when I'm breastfeeding. I like it, but not going to stay up late reading it!

I have Silence Fallen, the most recent Mercy Thompson, ready to go.
QOTW: I'll be watching my alma mater play tomorrow, and I play fantasy, so I follow closely on Sundays, too. I don't really have a favorite snack, though.
I'm reading Tower of Dawn and Augustus and the Creation of the Roman Empire (for a paper I need to write). I have a really heavy course load this semester so I don't see a lot of leisure reading time in my near future.
QOTW: I don't watch football any more for a variety of reasons but I still love game day snacks. Potato skins and buffalo wings are my favorites.

Yeah I completely agree! I had zero knowledge about any of it so I thought it was very interesting how things could have gone differently, who knew what things when, etc. But the listings of all the things on the boat, or the mundane letters from various people on the boat - all kind of boring. So it was a mix bag for me too.
I finished Glass Houses by Louise Penny last night. I adore her books and thoroughly enjoyed this one, but I will say I preferred the last few to this one. Sort of started A Symphony of Echoes by Jodi Taylor, second in the new-to-me Chronicles of St. Mary's series.
Qotw: I don't do football but I love snacks. Spinach artichoke dip sounds excellent right now.
I'm reading The Lost Letter by Jillian Cantor. I'm enjoying it. It's set in 1989, just around the time of the fall of the Berlin Wall. It flashes back to 1939 Austria. A Jewish stamp engraver has to hide to avoid the Nazis. His non-Jewish apprentice takes over the work when he's commanded to make stamps for the Deutches Reich. In 1989, a woman who's father has early onset dementia takes his stamp collection to be appraised by a dealer. The dealer discovers an undelivered letter with a very unique stamp. Adventure, history, romance ensue.
QOTW - College football has started! My Ags, however, GAVE AWAY a 34 point lead against UCLA last weekend, losing by one point (44-45 UCLA.) I love party and snack foods. One of my favorite game day snacks is grilled bacon wrapped stuffed jalapenos. YUM!
Just read Behind Closed Doors by BA Paris, and it was intense. Had to put it down a couple of times on my flight to take a little break! But it definitely held my interest and I finished it in one day. Maybe 3.5 stars.
I am not a huge football fan, but I am a huge fan of football snacks! Chili cheese dip is a favorite.
I'm ~15% of the way into The Hate U Give. A hard topic, of course, but so far a good book.
I'm sort of listening to The Awakening by Kate Chopin but it's not really keeping my interest. I keep finding podcasts to listen to instead.
QOTW: I appreciate football when it distracts H so I can have undisturbed reading time. But, even he isn't a big fan. We both consider Super Bowl Sunday to be an excellent day to go skiing.
ETA - oops, that wasn't really the question, was it?

This is how I know its not a good audio book for me! When Im really into it, the podcasts are MIA hahah
This is quite a coincidence that we're both reading it at the same time when it's so old!
I think I added it based on a recommendation here not too long ago. Did you?
I don't remember the recommendation but maybe it stuck with me subconsciously? I was just browsing my library's available audiobooks and thought it could be interesting.

Do I dare ask which podcast?
Lots of politics ones: NPR Politics Podcast, Pod Save America, Rachel Maddow. Also other NPR ones like Fresh Air and This American Life. Nothing super captivating like Serial, which maybe should tell me something!

Having finally slogged through She Lover of Death, I'm reading Home by Nightfall and enjoying it.
QOTW: I prefer college football to professional, but I'll take what I can get. Here in Australia it's on at 3am Monday mornings, so I usually only watch the Sunday night games, which are round lunchtime Monday here. So my idea of football snacks has changed a bit -- just because chili or jalepeno poppers really aren't the kind of things I can eat that early in the morning. But I do love chips & salsa or chips & dip, and pretzel dogs/chili-cheese dogs are great!
