Do you get anything for new people in your neighborhood? No one ever gave us anything when we moved, but I thought that was a little weird. We have new neighbors a few houses down and it looks like they might have kids (I hope!! Some toys on the driveway). I was thinking of bringing them some flowers as a welcome gift but it seems awkward.
We've never received anything as a new neighbour, and haven't given anything either, but I think it's a nice gesture! I'd probably either do the flowers or maybe a plate of homemade cookies?

We had someone move in 2 houses from us, and my daughter saw they had a little girl and couldn't wait to meet them. We went over and introduced ourselves the day they were moving in (and ended up inviting them to my son's birthday party later that day, and they came). I meant to take them over a welcome gift within the next week...was thinking to bake them something and then include a small giftcard to our favorite local pizza place and grocery store, but I never got around to it, and then they went out of town and we went out of town and then I felt like it was too late.
Saw on latest on app, so sorry I'm shoving in as a non-mom. I'm the "welcome committee" 🙄 for our neighborhood board, so I'm following this thread to check out any new ideas. I love the idea of something from a local bakery (to also show a little love to local business(es)) but that idea was poo-poo'd because of possible (unknown) dietary restrictions. So I always go with flowers, that are, of course, always graciously accepted. Possibly applicable that I live near a bunch of Oldz; the couple of younger mom's I've welcomed have certainly appreciated the flower gift, but I have always thought a plate of cookies would be better..? Just my two cents!
I figured flowers, maybe. It's hard b/c I don't know if they moved from a local location or from out of state, and still have no idea IF they really have kids for sure and if so, what ages. It would be great if I could just catch them outside sometime this weekend.

I bake muffins and bring them over. It's always well received and honestly if they have dietary restrictions it's not typically the whole house. It's always been graciously received, what they do after I drop them by is their business.
If they have kids, maybe some sidewalk chalk if it's nice outside? Would help keep the kiddos occupied until their toys get unpacked. I also like the idea of a tray of cookies.
