We've started putting DD to bed in panties. Mixed results. About half the time, she stays dry. Which is better than in Pull Ups, where every morning she woke up with a 5 lb soaked Pull Up. But gah. Changing wet sheets isn't fun. I see a potty alarm in our future.
DS went the whole weekend with zero accidents. Then on my way to work I got a text from DH that DS had pooped his pants. Damn it. So frustrating.
I get to have a phenomenally uncomfortable conversation with my boss. And I felt like I was having a bad hair day, but I saw a very blunt friend on my way in to my building and she complimented my hair, so I'm feeling better about it. Having shitty conversations while having bad hair just sucks. I need the extra confidence.
mommyatty, I wish my kid would stay dry all weekend. He was dry all Friday and then went to my grandparents, because DH and I had drill. Backslide. We haven't attempted night time training yet. How old is your DS again? Good luck with the convo.
Monday here. They cancelled school for today so daycare is also closed. DH is home with DS. DH and I are also glued to our phones for the possibility of activation.
I'm feeling exhausted. I just finished a big cup of coffee and already wish I had another. I was barely home this weekend so it feels like I didn't really get much down time to regroup and mentally prepare for the week.
During the time I was home, I discovered that basically none of my dresses fit so I was scrambling to find something in my closet to wear to an out of town wedding this coming weekend. So that was a great ego boost. DH's response to one dress was "Um... it's not... great..." Granted, I asked how bad it looked, but still. Not a good feeling. I haven't gained a ton of weight, maybe 5 pounds or so, but I'm otherwise very thin, I gain weight only in my stomach and the stomach issues I have cause pretty severe bloating, everything made me look suspiciously, possibly pregnant. Not the look I'm going for at a huge extended family function.
And I almost forgot my work computer at home, so had to make a mad dash back to the house on my way to work.

mommyatty, the state of my hair can really set the tone to how the rest of my day goes so I feel you on that one. I'm meeting with the hand dr tomorrow to discuss my current issue which I am positive will result in me needing surgery. My concerns are the folllowing: How will I take care of my 2 small kids with only one working hand and how will I do my hair. I told DH he's going to have to get real good at using a straightener and blow dryer.
Vent: my stomach has been wierd lately. I can't figure out if this is my new normal after surgery or if I have another health issue. Which sends my anxiety, hypochondria into overdrive.
Good weekend. Dd got a couple of outfits and a shirt that is beyond, according to her, for picture day. Ds got a pair of Levis that were normally $30 for $7, so win.
mommyatty, those absorbent mattress protectors really work; I had 2-3 when DS was at that stage and it was a sanity (and sleep) saver. They're not bad to sleep on, I've laid on them myself when DS has a nightmare and needs cuddles.
Vent: H tosses his keys on the counter every darn night, and sometime between Thurs and this morning, his work set disappeared. This was not the start to the week I'd have chosen. And this is why I put my keys on the hooks right inside the door.

To sum up my weekend with DS, here is a direct quote from him this morning - "I was mad because you didn't follow my directions" It's one of those weeks where I'm a little bit happy that it's Monday. I will appreciate his confidence and other qualities when he is older, but at 8am on a Monday after a long, mentally challenging Sunday with him, not so much.
Our neighbor's house party didn't cause too much disturbance so that was a relief.
I got to have breakfast with a bff Saturday morning to talk things out with her and hear from a person IRL that I'm not crazy for wanting to be done with the self-employed life. She framed it as I've spent 7 years taking care of other people so it's not a surprise that I'm exhausted from it all. I've often viewed it like that but always wondered if I was just being dramatic so to hear it from someone else on the outside looking it really helped.
@xctscrlx - I hope the activation goes the way you hope it will! The not knowing would destroy me.
erinshelley21 - DH had wrist surgery for new mom syndrome and he is one for the man cold - and his recovery was not as painful as he expected in that he adapted way more than he thought he would.
This morning DD passed out Girl Scout flyers at 7am at school, and because no one else wants to be the campus liaison, I got to be there with DS, too. There was a mass shooting event at a football watch party in an adjacent neighborhood that fronts the trail where I run and I didn't sleep much last night - how terrible is it that I'm relieved it was a domestic dispute (not drugs or sex trade or something ongoing)?
This week I am a little stressed and a little excited - highlights include making a salad bar like Salata and having friends over for an early dinner tomorrow before middle school open house and Girl Scouts, DD gets evaluated to see if she can return to soccer, oldest DD has a game at school Wednesday and a rec tournament this weekend and I am volunteering at the school library while DS' kinder class is there one day this week. The stress is there's a lot going on, Scholastic orders are due, I have to remember to clothe DD for a hiking field trip, get everyone where they need to be, set up the sitter for next week while I go to San Diego and get DD's birthday stuff planned for the next week because I will be in SLC for work.
rere, I don't remember - was your surgery for your gallbladder? My only experience with surgery was a gallbladder-ectomy (whatever that's really called) and it messed up my GI tract for a long time after. At any rate, hope you figure it out

Celebration: I took Saturday off and had a great day with DS. DH decided he couldn't do anything fun because he had to plan in his classroom. DS and I enjoyed a ton of food at the Greek festival and then stopped by our farmers market.
Work was also productive. After a dry spell of not finding anything, I ended up seizing some property and writing a penalty for another violation. They weren't big ones, but at least it's something.
Vent: I worked another 12 hours of OT over the weekend over two days. I can't wait for October 1st which is when the excessive OT is done.

2chatter, thankfully I kind of know what to expect because I've had this problem before, if I have self-diagnosed correctly. I'm looking at about 6 weeks in a cast of some sort then another few in a brace I think. I don't remember the pain being too bad. My biggest concern is being able to hold the baby with only one fully mobile hand/wrist on the days and nights that DH is at work. It's those 6 mornings in a row and 3 nights a week that are a killer.
DD goes to daycare on my college campus, and all of the parents have RFID cards to get into the general building, and then two more swipes within the daycare. Well, the outside doors were locked today, when they shouldn't be, and none of the parents' cards worked on any of the doors. I ended up finding a maintenance man, and following him in the general building door after he swiped in, and then pounding on the daycare's door until someone came. Not amused for how much I pay for this place.
The weekend was good, I took DD to a welcome back picnic for our students and she was good there, while DS was at a football game. I took DS to Target to make his birthday list and booked his kid party at a local kids museum. Things are good, I'm tired though. And my right eye hurts, fingers crossed its not pink eye from one of the kids.

We had a pretty good weekend all around. DS had a good flag football game and got a touchdown. I was able to get a good amount of cleaning and laundry done, and I caught up on a few TV shows.
DH had his bowling league Saturday evening, and DS went with him. DD picked out a movie from the Redbox called "Scales" for us to have a "girls movie night." The movie was awful, and on top of it, it reference girls getting their period for the first time, multiple times throughout the movie. I was praying that DD wouldn't ask about it as I'm just not prepared to have that conversation yet, LOL. Thankfully, she didn't ask.
This week will be super busy at work, so I'm praying that means it hopefully will help the week go by more quickly.

mommyatty my DD requested that she not wear pull-ups to bed anymore. We told her if she could go two weeks without waking up wet we would allow it. So she has been wearing her regular panties under the pull-ups for about 8 days so far. She even got up in the middle of the night without calling for me to use the potty we have in her room. I even accidentally put her to bed without the protective pull-up on Friday night and she woke up dry (thank goodness bc I also don't have a bed protector on her bed right now). Friday is the go live night. I am a little afraid. Even though she had gone well so far I know accidents will happen. Potty training is so anxiety provoking.

Also had DD's birthday party this weekend. We had a frozen bounce house and all the kids had a blast. I'm exhausted from it and very thankful that #2 is turning 1 in a month and that party will be small and family only with limited extra stuff involved.
vavavictoria- We tried the "if you can go..." route, and it just wasn't working. She sleeps really heavily, so I think she honestly doesn't know when she goes unless she's soaked. What's frustrating is she didn't wet the bed when she was 2, but we kept her in Pull Ups. I think this is our fault. Her little brother is dry every night, and he sleeps in underwear now. She's really upset that he's always dry and can sleep in undies but she can't. We have to do something. So wet sheets it is.
I'm going to check out the Good Nights mattress protectors. Those may be a good compromise.
Happy thing: I just signed up for a class to learn to use my new embroidery machine. I kept having jams this weekend, so I think I'm doing something wrong. So excited to learn how to do this stuff! Plus it means taking Wednesday afternoon off!

Yes. I miss a functional gallbladder. My GI track is still not all that normal 7 months post gallbladder and 5 months post appendix. Any twinge or issue sends me spiraling on Dr. Google, which is a bad, bad place.
rere, I had IBS like symptoms for a few years after having mine out and had to make some diet modifications. It's been 15+ years now and I'm mostly pretty normal feeling, just the occasional twinge where my gallbladder used to be (which is apparently not uncommon - scar tissue pulling maybe). Oddly enough pregnancy did me a lot of good, I have no idea why. Maybe the hormonal changes, maybe suddenly taking vitamins with iron. Something.
On Saturday, I went to the gym for a P90X class since my regular BodyPump class was cancelled. O-M-G - I was out of breath almost the whole time, but I had a great time! The instructor was really good! I don't know if this is crazy, but I'm thinking of doubling up on my workouts on Saturdays - P90X followed by BodyPump right after. Getting to the gym 2x a week is going to be hard the next two months because DD starts softball tonight which means games 2 - 3 days/week. Then I spent the rest of the day shopping with my mom and DD. I was able to score used cleats and softball pants for $20 at a resale store. My mom was looking for curtains and a new comforter for her new place. On Sunday, we went to brunch with my parents and my brother and his 4 kids. It was nice to see everyone. Then I came home and crashed. I've been fighting a cold since last Tuesday and the fatigue amped up yesterday. The worse part is that DS2 got it too, so he hasn't been sleeping the best. I'm still tired today, but not nearly as much as yesterday.
My parents are moving out tomorrow and I'm a little sad. It was nice having them around the last month. They are only moving about 25 mins away, but I'll still miss them.

Thank you for the hope! I just don't want this to be a lifetime issue or have some other dire medical thing wrong. I need to stay off the web. Unfortunately, pregnancy is out for me lol.
DH finally came home from his fire assignment on Saturday. He had yesterday and has today off, and then we'll see if he is re-assigned to a fire. I think it is very likely. So much of the West is burning. He thinks it is possible that they will go back to the fire he was just on. I'm hoping they don't. He had almost no cell coverage on that fire and it made his 2 week assignment seem so much longer.
Anyway, it was so good to have him home yesterday. We took the girls floating on the river for the first time. They loved it and it was really relaxing and fun. It was probably the last float weekend of the year so I'm glad we got it in. We had a date night last night for the first time this summer!

DD had her first soccer game of the new season and she is already way better than she was for the last two previous seasons. Many of the other 4 year olds were on the field crying and holding mom or dad's hand and DD was actually engaged and keeping up with everything that was going on (although no goals this game). Yay.
Very quiet day at work so far. I need to relish it before something big blows up.

Also kind of annoyed the MIL offered to take the kids over night next weekend as a birthday present to me but when I talked to her yesterday she already made plans for Saturday night and asked me to postpone. She asked me if I already made reservations somewhere and I said no, but quite frankly this is the reason why.
polecat8 - I was running, boxing and then doing hill sprints on the days I could work out and ended up with a stress fracture in my femur that still kind of hurts (this was in April). So listen to your body (promptly) if you double up!
And ... happy here too - DS had his first ever outdoor soccer game this weekend and scored a goal. The coach had kinder kids spread the field and pass - it was kind of super amazing when it worked! I'm excited about his season now and so is he. I swear coaching is so so super important.

And an update - my H found his keys. At work. Despite repeating over and over that he knew he had them when he last left work.
He's now taking online alzheimer's tests and self diagnosing. Personally, I think it's either stress or depression, but whatever gets him to a doctor...
leap, I really appreciate all your H does and how much work wildfire firefighters do. I'm hoping mother nature will start giving them a bigger help soon.
Work vent: Corporate deadline is Friday and I still have one sitting on my desk. I'm actually waiting on the client to finish bringing in his books so I can finish those before I even begin on the tax return. I've been bugging him for stuff since June and he is totally stressing me out.
I ended up juicing tomatoes yesterday with my mom and DD and ended up with 12.5 quarts of tomato juice. I will have enough tomatoes from my garden to do another batch in a couple weeks. We go through a ton of tomato juice

We had a good, but randomly busy, weekend. My in-laws are in town visiting, so I've hosted dinners on both nights and brunch on Saturday. By last night, I was exhausted and finally cracked open a bottle of wine. My in-laws don't drink and I have a feeling that MIL thinks I drink too much, so I've been trying hard to not drink in front of them. Oh well.
