I need to start using a purple shampoo since my hair doesn't want to be a cool tone. My hairdresser suggested using Joico, but after looking at ulta, I see they have 2 purple shampoos. Color Endure Violet and Color Balance Purple. Anyone know the difference? I can't figure it out via the descriptions.

I was using the Color Balance Purple. It's okay, but it makes my hair feel weird. My hairdresser suggested Amika so I bought a small bottle from the salon. I like it so much better. It's pricey, but I only use it 1-2 times a week, so the bottle should last a while.
It amuses me that this is a thing that is used on humans. We always washed our gray (white) horse with purple shampoo to keep their coats bright and not yellowy. I mean...obviously same thing applies to humans who want to avoid brassy tones, but it still makes me smile.
This whole endeavor is so weird for me, since I have naturally reddish hair and the last 10 years have been spend trying to enhance the brass/reddish tones that I'm slowly losing as I get older. When I bleached my hair in HS, I didn't mind the brass that creeped back. Now I'm really loving a cool-tone blonde look and am realizing what a PITA it is to keep it.
I use the Sally Beauty Ion purple shampoo and conditioner on my son a few times a week. It does a good job of keeping his blonde hair from getting to yellow-y and nasty during the summer and brightening it a bit in the winter when he's not outside as much. I might be vain enough to use purple shampoo for a kindergartner but I'm not crazy enough to get expensive stuff.

I've only ever used Shimmer Lights from Sally's since I usually am all about trying to keep colour and finding that specific type of shampoo.
This platinum hair can be pretty beastly to maintain though, and it's doing nicely. But I've never heard of the ones you suggested so basically I'm not helpful at all!
