A supervisor, not in my chain of command but someone I have to work closely with, is trying to throw people under the bus left and right. He has been skipping the second line supervisor and going right to the top. Because the top was promoted for who he knows and not what he knows, he then has to question the second line supervisor, which creates work for him and me (because I then have to research the incident). These have been issues that should be kept at the lower level. And he has written people up who didn't deserve it.
I am watching my back because I could be the next person this supervisor decides to throw under the bus. Right now I'm safe because he needs my knowledge base since he was promoted from a different work unit and doesn't know our work unit's job very well.

supertrooper1, we have a director in my functional area that takes any opportunity available to throw people under the bus. Mostly, I assume, because she is incompetent in her role and that's her way of trying to cover it.
I'm mad because people won't share information with me, and I work in corporate compensation, so we should be able to know just about anything. The specific situation is I had removed an employee from eligibility for a merit increase due to a plan in place to reduce their pay, and then the leader goes around me to my director to say that the employee needs to be added back in for a legal reason (and the plan to decrease pay is no longer in play). It makes me so mad. The leader could have come to me to say, "hey, there's a legal reason we need to include so-and-so, can you please make them eligible again?." I would've had no problem, but to go around me to my director just pisses me off.
Same vent as yesterday. Corp client still hasn't gotten me his credit card statements from 2016 so I can finish his books and get his damn tax return done which is due Friday. Right now my hourly rate just doubled just because of my stress level and his damn procrastination.
I was off yesterday, so not a lot of vents yet. I had a couple of people quit, and filled two positions. I have one more posted right now though, so I guess filling in for that one. The person had a medical emergency and left on zero notice.
Otherwise I can't really complain except for annoying people.

I don't have my own company card, and it drives me insane. I order all our promo, book this giant trip every year, am traveling 3 of the 4 next weeks, etc... but I have to put everything on someone else's card when ordering online and submit expense receipts after the fact to get reimbursed. I want to ask for my own card, but no one else at my seniority level has one, so I don't know if it's a company rule thing or just happens to be that way.
Our structure is ridiculous . Currently, I am a supervisor reporting to a director. Basically just a messenger. I supervise 3 people. We all work in various programs. Some of the program managers do not report to me. So we have around 3 other people to report to, plus, their directors, who may or may not have knowledge of the program, but make decisions affecting my ability to do my job, but I do not report to any of them. Make sense? I hope our new agency director will straighten this mess out, but not much hope. Our last one made it worse, but was infallible in her own mind.

Another one: subordinates who apparently think my direct fucking orders are suggestions. Considering I just yelled at one of my fav employees in the hallway where everyone could hear, I'm guessing today they have the message. Tomorrow? Who the fuck knows? But they don't pull shit like this with male general directors.
Still no paperwork or even a phone call from my client. We called yesterday at 11:30 asking if he had any luck getting the stuff...crickets.
I'm ready to go home
twinmomma, could you ask for a business card while you are travelling extensively the next few weeks and see what they say. The worst they can tell you is no.
I was in vacation from the 1st-11th. When I went back on the 11th they somehow thought my work that wasn't done before I left would be miraculously finished. I haven't taken any breaks in two days just trying to keep my head above water.
Combine that with the fact that I'm basically doing two roles instead of one and I feel like I already need a vacation again.

Top level exec in my org has been frequently meeting with top level exec of one of my neediest customers. The people at my working level at the customer get debriefs from the exec meetings while I just have to hear what they have to say happens at the meetings and wait for the news to trickle 3 layers of management down to me weeks later, if ever

I was volun-told I would be in charge of overseeing my division's participation in the annual charity fundraiser. If that isn't a sign that I am the new kid there, i don't know what is.
A significant portion of my job involves building presentations for two exec meetings that are always scheduled in the first half of the month. I am on vacation from Oct 9-13 for Fall Break (taking DD to Myrtle Beach w/MIL). The monthly report I rely on won't be ready until the 3rd. They scheduled one of the meetings for the 6th "to make things easier." So basically they expect 2 weeks of work in 3 days, and a significant portion of the timing of my work is waiting for other groups to provide comments and waiting for my management to review my presentations before the meetings.
I am DEFINITELY going to need a vacation when this is over.
