What a week (and a few days beyond)! I had a lot of extra stuff on my plate last week. We also had company for a few days, so despite being busier yet, it was a nice time and pretty much the extent of my self care.
This week is hectic too, so nothing specific planned for self care. Aiming for 5 minutes per day is probably a good goal for me again this week.

Last week, there was no exercise. It seems more like two weeks. Diet did continue for the most part. After visiting with my parents and meeting DH, I thought I had really bad allergies that turned out to be a upper respiratory infection this past Monday. I didn't think it was that bad but DH came from out of town again and I had to go in. Then I got worried over DS and took him in to get checked. DS was fine.
DH and I got to spend time together these past few days. I took four days off from work and I had not done that in a long time. Two days was for last week when we visited my parents over Labor day weekend and another two days this week. I have not taken any time off since DS had private therapies in the summer.
This week: Still no exercise. I am recuperating from what I had. I hope to get on the exercise hopefully next week.
Diet is okay. DH has helped me with diet and exercise. I needed tortillas to go with the beans MIL made and DH was saying I should get flour tortillas because it is okay for me to have them. I told him I had to have wheat tortillas. DH got upset that I am too skinny when he saw me over labor day weekend and he still complains about it. I have to be skinny to prevent diabetes. I wasn't eating right and wasn't exercising before and got high blood pressure.
DH will be coming over the weekend. DH wants to grill us hamburgers for us at MIL's house.

Adjusting to Kindergarten schedule this week. This means that DS has been sleeping and getting up almost an hour earlier, which means all sorts of possibilities for how I spend my evenings. I can do dishes! Fold laundry! Vacuum the floors! My house is the cleanest it's been in months. I hope this trend continues.
My mother's knee replacement surgery went well. Dad is finally calming down after the hurricane; he's so confused he's alternating between worrying about properties he thinks he owns but doesn't in Florida and SC or thinking he's in Florida and raging that I'm not doing enough to prepare for the storm. He's had a couple of doctors appointments this week. My DH and I had to take him to the GI doc and for some tests.
My mother did nothing ahead of the surgery in terms of preparing the house, shopping or fixing meals- this is her second knee- she should know the drill. So I've been chasing around doing things one of us should have taken care of ahead of time. Filling prescriptions, getting her bi-pap machine fixed, installing a hand-held shower head, food shopping, etc.
Mother had a meltdown in the hospital, she claims the PT yelled at her for not concentrating. The hospital didn't have her ADHD med, so they didn't give her anything. Gah, she's 2nd day post-op, in pain, and on powerful painkillers without her meds- yeah- good luck with that. I was sort of surprised- this is a major university hospital with a neuroscience division- so WTF? They offered her Adderall the next morning instead- it worked well but she's not supposed to take stimulants because of her leaky heart valves.
And in the middle of all this, my dear BIL died. He was really frail when we saw him last month at the family reunion but it was the other brother who ended up in the hospital while we were there so not really expected. My SIL had a very informal memorial at the house, but we couldn't travel because of my mother. My SIL's only sisters couldn't get to her either as they live near Jacksonville. We'll head out in a month or two.

I REALLY need to work on this. I am really ramping up what I'm doing professionally so that took most of my energy this week. I'm going to have to re-learn how to fit in self-care now that I have a LOT more that I'm trying to fit in while the boys are at school each day!
What did you do this past week? Did you get at least a little time each day? A little at the end of the day, but not enough. Friday was the best; I got a haircut in the morning and DH and I went to a wedding that evening.
Any plans for what is left of this week? For this coming week I really need to carve out some time for this, and definitely need to schedule some workouts since that fell by the wayside somewhat this past week.
Challenge: Treat yourself to something. It doesn't have to be something that costs money. I like this challenge. I will have to think. Might be a luxurious bath ...
