CBO score expected this afternoon. Of course it's just the "preliminary" version with the spending and revenue effects, and it can't possibly reflect the current version anyways. This is probably all we are going to get.

I don't like how this suggests she is wrestling with a decision. This should not be a close call.
I am seeing a lot on Twitter about how the financial ramifications of GC 2.0 as put forth by the sponsors are misleading in many respects (including not taking into account the losses from the Medicaid per capita caps), such that Alaska won't fare as well as GC wants people to believe. I hope Murkowski has people on her staff who are seeing this analysis in the media and are calling it to her attention.

Hearing was just gaveled in, pro-Medicaid protesters delayed start and now they're recessing until they can restore "order." ADAPT is back! Lots of arrests reported.

The alternate cspan stream we switched to is showing the arrests, mainly people with disabilities. It will likely be a while before they can clear out the chamber and start the hearing.

Also, everyone seems to be in agreement now that the CBO score (I'm sorry, "preliminary assessment") coming today isn't even for GC 2.0, but rather the last version of the bill. So it isn't a CBO score for THIS version of the bill.
Also, Rand Paul is holding a press conference about GC at 4:30.
Spoke too soon, they're going now. This speech is so hollow. Ugh it makes me nauseous.
That's why I'm not watching. I figure it will be all disingenuous comments by Republican witnesses about "lower costs" and "improved coverage" and "getting Washington out of health care" and "it's this or socialism like Bernie's single-payer bill!!" (which Graham was touting on Twitter this morning...damn it, Bernie), and a lot of ignoring of and/or skeptical/hostile questioning of the Democratic witnesses.

Not that it matters because it's not even a real score! What a bunch of bologna this is.

Believe me I wish I didn't have to. We are all in a conference room together with it on the big screen, working on our next steps action alert.

I wish I knew enough to fact check Graham's response to debunk it all.
Graham's remarks were basically an angry rant about Medicare and Medicaid, with a lot of "us" versus "them" framing and a chaser of fearmongering about single payer (thanks, Bernie).

winecat it was barely comprehensible. More than ever we should all remember: Graham is NOT a health care guy. We are debating whether he genuinely believes himself and that he's right on the issue, but his facts were nearly all wrong and he has a very poor grasp on the actual policies in his own bill (made clear by how clumsy and unworkable the bill is) nevermind the ACA.

Hirono is up now.
Hirono is a national treasure. She is phenomenal.
We snorted when Graham mixed up Medicare and Medicaid. He is so lost. Go back to the kiddie table, the adults are working.

I saw a Tweet from a Capitol Hill reporter last week that was talking about how no one on the Hill could defend Graham-Cassidy on the merits (besides "states rights!" and "Obamacare bad!"), and it was like, "As far as I can tell there are only 2 senators who understand the bill enough to talk about it intelligently, and one of them is not Lindsay Graham."
Cassidy, with a straight face, says that he does not approve of this process either but Dems forced him into it in order to be a hero and save health care.

I am SO TIRED of the GOP acting like martyrs because the Dems won't cooperate with them by compromising all their principles and buying into their cruel policies that victimize the poor and vulnerable. "Wah, the Dems won't be bipartisan because they won't take what we want without complaint! They are being obstructionists!" GTFO.
Also, the Dems were involved in bipartisan hearings until your leadership shut them down lest they distract from this abomination of a bill.
ALSO. Does Bill Cassidy REALLY believe that his bill will save health care? Does he? When not just every analysis of the bill says it will raise premiums and lower coverage, but ALSO doctors and hospitals and insurance companies and insurance commissioners and on and on and on say this bill will be a disaster, what the hell is he thinking? I'm asking seriously here. I guess it shouldn't surprise me, since GOP refuses to accept the evidence in other areas (i.e. climate change), but how does he look at ALLLLLLL of that and not go, "huh. Maybe this bill may not make things better." Does he truly see himself as a misunderstood hero and truly believes it will be good for coverage/premiums and everyone who is against his bill is just confused and wrong? Does he know it is a dumpster fire but is so obsessed with repealing Obamacare and making donors happy that he doesn't care and will openly lie all the time about its effects? I am sort of obsessed with this question.
