Up until this morning, the only brand I was actively boycotting was Jeffree Star. I have about 6 or 7 of his liquid lipsticks, a highlighter and some lip scrubs (read: I previously spent a good deal of cash on his products). After the controversy, I said I would not buy another thing from that racist jerkoff. Since he already had my money, I was continuing to use the products I purchased, but committed to not re-purchasing.
After seeing the thread this morning, I realize that I have a massive amount of products from those companies, and just using them this morning made me ill. I'm so disgusted and I don't know that I can continue with my previous mantra of "Use it up and replace what I love from someone else who isn't a racist POS".
On the bright side- this will curb my desire to spend money by a LOT.
I don't want to toss makeup that I've spent thousands on, but at the same time, I'm so disgusted. Those who feel similarly, what are you doing/would you do?
I figure money's been spent and a majority is stuff I can't return. I might try and return my Lash Paradise mascara out of spite. I get what you mean about feeling weird about using it though. I've been focused on panning a bunch of stuff this year and I'm more focused on supporting brands owned by POC already. This recent shitty behavior has made me more focused on that goal.

Throwing it out would be wasteful. I just won't purchase anymore. I'm going to have to find foundation alternatives because my HG is UD Naked and IT CC. If someone asks about something I'm wearing, like lipstick, I'll be honest about it but share that I am no longer endorsing the brand because of L'Oreal's racist acts.

Since I mostly shop Asian brands and WOC brands, this hasn't effected my collection too much. The only real exception is UD which I do have a fair amount of for my eyes. I will use it up and find alternatives to replace. The money has been spent and I don't have any problem using it.
The answer here is to do what feels right for you. Use it up or toss as you see fit. Either choice makes sense to me.

This is where I am. It's a waste of the resources and labor to produce it and it's a waste of space in a landfill. Use it up, give it to a friend, let your kid play with it, but don't just toss.
I plan on using mine up, but won't repurchase from those brands. I get asked by friends a lot for product recs, so I am making sure I don't recommend anything from these brands, and if I wear a lip color (since that's what I am most asked about at work and stuff) by one of them I try to have a dup to offer instead and explain why.
Thanks for all the feedback. I am going to go through my collection this weekend and purge a bit- setting aside things I can sanitize and give to others and tossing things that I will never use up completely b/c I don't like them (or don't like them that much).

If you find a good IT CC dupe, let me know. I'm so happy with it.
I'm using up everything I already have, and then not purchasing again. My options for good, cruelty free brands at Ulta are growing slim though now.

Yeah, this is definitely making Ulta less of a magnet for me.

This is risky but I'm going to ask anyway...how does a company redeem themselves? Like KVD for instance, I thought she apologized, pulled the product and renamed it. The cat meme is not the way to go...
