Anyone have a GoPro?

Does anyone have a GoPro or know someone who does? I'm trying to think of ideas for DHs birthday and he mentioned this as something he might want but I was looking for feedback from people who have one. I found one on Amazon that comes with an accessory pack that has a lot of items - head strap mount, chest strap mount, tripod, etc. It's overwhelming. Anything I should definitely get as an accessory or anything to avoid?

Or any other ideas for a DH birthday? I'm so bad at birthday buying - I always want to find the perfect thing and then end up stressing out and either getting something really bad or spending way too much.

DD is getting one at the end of the month - I am terrified about what she will do with it. For Reflections she wants to climb to the top of a tree and take a photo. This will enable that in a way demanding I hand her my DSLR would not.

I think it's a great gift for a grown up! Not so much my child....

Does it automatically have a waterproof case?

From what I've read, it is already waterproof up to 33' deep so nothing extra is needed. I can see lots of fun in the pool with it. Too bad we're about to close it!

Our friend has one and has gotten some great videos with it. He uses it when we kayak both whitewater and flat-water. He got a great one of me falling off my SUP in very slow mo fashion. He also uses it when he cross country skies, paintball, and has even hooked it up to the dog during a hike.

What do you think your DH will use it most for and then find the accessory that fits with that activity. The head mount is our friends favorite style along with one that he can mount to his kayak.

I watched a video where a kid wore one while playing hide and seek and have wanted one desperately ever since. I would strap them on my kids everywhere they go. I haven't gotten one yet, b/c my kids would definitely strip it off and break it. But they're getting there...!

As for accessories, I'm no help. I'd probably do a chest strap b/c they're less likely to want to get that off.

I really have no idea how he wants to use it. I think he's a kid when it comes to electronics and thinks it's cool. I'm sure the kids will help him figure out what adventures to go on with it. I found a good deal on Walmart that included a bundle so I went for it. 

Also got one one of those Man Crates with personalized beer glasses. FX he likes them both!

Lol...totally read that wrong. Thought you were buying for DS instead of DH. I'm sure your H will be able to keep it on just fine...

Dh us a few for racing and it is really cool to have. We also used it to record snorkeling, hiking, ds first stroller walk, and bike rides. It's fun to have and make those fast motion videos. The accessory pack is a must. My only complaint is you cant see the pics.

Yes, I gave one to DH as a gift. He's used it while snowboarding and we use it for underwater pictures in our pool - one photo of DS1 smiling underwater won our work photo contest last year
