My house finally got electricity last night! It was only 11 days, but who is counting?
Read last week: Grave Dance (#2 in series) by Kalayna Price - PNR; 3 stars; eh, I think I will stop reading this series here The Last Hour of Gann by R. Lee Smith - sci-fi/romance; 4 stars; This book is pretty messed up at times but I still really liked it.
Currently reading: The Heart's Invisible Furies by John Boyne - historical fiction; I haven't made too much progress on this book this week Satan's Sword (#2 in series) by Debra Dunbar - PNR; the heroine is a demon/imp thing and is so awesomely immoral, cracks me up What Happened by Hillary Rodham Clinton - non-fiction; I'm about 50% through it and it just makes my heart hurt all over again about what could have been....
QOTW: My favorite fall thing is being able to wear jeans comfortably again (I live in Florida), cinnamon broomsticks you can buy to make your house smell nice, and getting to think about Halloween costumes (we do a family costume theme every year)

This week I finished Crooked Kingdom and really liked it. I don't see that there is another book in this series but I will read anything she writes from now on.
I'm currently reading Woman No. 17. For some reason I thought it was going to be a sci-fi novel about androids or something. I was completely wrong. Lol. It's good so far though. There are 2 different women who alternate sections in the book and I'm having trouble with the voice of one of them.
QOTW: not having to shave my legs? But this year I'm not getting even that since it's going to be in the upper 80s this weekend...in Wisconsin...in September!
I finished Harry Potter #6, and will be starting the 7th one today. I'm also going to read It because the movie was amazing.
QOTW: It never gets cold enough here for proper cozy sweaters, but I love getting to wear leggings (no shaving!) I also love college football and crisp fall leaves.

I finished Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng, which was excellent, and just started The Obelisk Gate by N. K. Jemisin, the second in a sci-fi/fantasy trilogy.
Qotw: It's 90 here this weekend and sure doesn't feel like fall, but I love the colors of the trees and the crunching leaves. Apple picking too -- we usually go every couple of weeks this time of year.
I'm reading What Happened by Hillary Clinton for my bus commute book and The Captive Queen by Alison Weir at bedtime. I don't usually read two paper books at once but wanted to get started on What Happened as soon as it came out, but yet at the same time it makes me too sad to read right before bed. The Captive Queen isn't as well-written IMO as some of Weir's other books like The Lady Elizabeth.
Still listening to The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman and enjoying it.
QOTW: I love the relief from hot weather and anticipation of winter. Of course the weather here doesn't seem to realize that fall has arrived.
I just finished Home Front last night. I liked it...very heavy book though. Not sure what is next. Has anyone read the Throne of Glass book yet?
My favorite thing about fall is not sweating but we don't really get fall yet. We just get not as hot. But it's currently in the 90's so I am ready for not as hot. I'm wearing jeans today and am dying.
I finished The Odds of Loving Grover Cleveland (meh, the main character was boring, and the love interest of Grover Cleveland was a giant creep) but I had to miss my book club for that book, and started I started Waking Lions for my other book club.
I'm feeling very conflicted about Waking Lions (I'm 25% of the way in). I seems like it's trying to make a valid point about race relations and the mistreatment of immigrants in Israel, but I'm really not digging the writing style and the way the content is being presented. There is a lot of language that is incredibly abusive and offensive, and I can't decide if it's that way deliberately to provoke emotions, a byproduct of how it was translated, or something else entirely.
QOTW: I'm happy that the rain is back here in the PNW - it makes things feel cozy (I'll be feeling differently around May). It's also the start of apple season!! So many different kinds of apples will be back in stock.
I finished The Good Daughter. It was ok. I thought it started good, fell flat, and then picked back up a little bit towards the end. I'm currently reading the Alice Network by Kate Quinn.
QOTW: I love just about everything about fall- clothing, weather, smell of cinnamon and pumpkin spice, the colors, etc...
Finished Lucy Kinkaid Dead Heat #8. It was ok, these are in betweeners for me. Something formulaic and light.
Currently reading The Perfect Stranger by Megan Miranda. I'm about 80% done and it's much better than All the Missing Girls which I thought was terrible.
QOTW- I love pumpkin patches and picking pumpkins. I would have all the pumpkins if I could.

I finished The People We Hate at the Wedding. From the title and cover art I thought it was going to be a funny book. It was not humorous at all. I was pretty disappointed with it.
I started Seven Stones to Stand or Fall. I'm also still reading The Fireman by Joe Hill on audio (hooray for a shorter commute but it certainly gives me a lot less audiobook time) and Martin Van Buren by Widmer.
QOTW: I love fall! Pumpkin everything, cool crisp air, going for a hike and seeing all the pretty leaves. Fall is the best season
I finished Anna and the French Kiss, it was a nice, light read, which is why I picked it. I started Lost in Lumby, another light read. It is the 5th in the series and my mom was very pleased with it. Work has been busy, so I am picking books that are relaxing.
QOTW: I love the changing leaves and (usually) cool temperatures. There is a smell to fall that just makes me happy. The cool temperatures also bring us back to comfort foods and baking - yum!

I'm reading "The Readers of Broken Wheel Recommend" and it's going well (about 20% in?).
I had a really drought of good reading this summer. I ended up binge-watching a lot of "Midsomer Murder" episodes (re-watching, as I've seen them all before). But I just ended a vacation and read a few I liked - light and fluffy, but that's what vacation is for! > Wired, Julie Garwood - good, not great (her contemporaries are not my favorite from her, but are for overall "romantic suspense") > All Night Long, Jayne Ann Krentz - again, good but not great > A Tale of Two Kitties, Sophie Kelly - Enjoyable.
A few weeks ago, I hit the jackpot with the newest Louise Penny (Glass Houses) and the newest Donna Andrews (Gone Gull) ... they are probably my #1 and #2 favorite authors these days, and released new books simultaneously. I couldn't wait until vacation to read them.
QOTW: Changing leaves. I moved from Colorado back to New York and the autumn is one of the best gifts (balances out the hot and sticky summer ... which is extending even to today).
I just finished The English Assassin (Gabriel Allon#2) by Daniel Silvia - a quick , action adventure read that I enjoyed.
I'm slowly getting through The Wise Men: Six Friends and the World They Made by Walter Isaccson. It is dry and dull, but has some neat stories in it. Trying to power through and finish it, but will probably read something else first.
QOTD - I love leaves changing colors, pumpkin desserts, and that it'll finally start to cooling so I can cook/eat soup again (DH isn't a fan of soup during hot weather time, so I rarely make it over the summer).

I'm still plodding through The Eyes of the Dragon by Stephen King. I haven't had much time to read it because of rehearsals and performances this week, so it's taking a while even though it's an easy read.
QOTW: I LOVE HALLOWEEN!!! I really just love everything about the fall except for football. Haha.
