I used the acronym MATH to plan my set up Math facts - usually did some kind of dice game here, or I had little math fact computer handheld thingys At your seat- practice page Teacher table - lesson with me Hands on - manipulatives or math game.
Some years I tried having different groups work on widely different skills, or go through the curriculum at their own pace, but found that hard to manage
I did better if all groups were working on similar skills, but using more hands on for my lower groups and finding ways to extend/deepen for my higher groups.
Each time we changed topics I reassessed groups- so someone that was low in subtraction might be in a high group for a geometry unit.
