Happy Friday!!! Any big plans for the weekend? We are headed out of town to celebrate my mom's birthday. I'm looking forward to some family time and a break from kid duties. My kids are the only grandkids on my side so there are a lot of helpers.
I'm back! After a whirlwind week at my conference, I'm so ready to just crash this weekend. But first, I have to go to that stupid haunted bachelorette thing tonight. I'm exhausted and so not in the right mindset to have fun, but I'm sucking it up. Tomorrow we have horse back riding in the morning. Then the rest of the weekend has a whole lot of nothing on tap, which is exactly what we need!
DD has a PD day today so I'm home with the kids. Playdate this morning and the lots of errands to prep for DS's 1st birthday party tomorrow. Tomorrow is gymnastics and then the party. Sunday no plans as we'll be recovering I'm sure!

Tonight - nothing except maybe some take out and adult beverages. Tomorrow is grocery shopping and maybe a trip to Michaels which DD wanted to do last weekend.
It’s DHs birthday on Sunday so we plan to go to dinner on Saturday. Sunday morning we have a blessing of the pets mass at church which I’m not too excited about. We have cats and I think any of our cats will be freaked out by all of the other animals. But I’m sure the kids will want to bring our youngest kitty so I’m on the fence. Also a little annoyed that this mass is required as part of RE. After that, I’m not really sure. I’m trying to figure out something fun we can do for DHs birthday but he always turns into a martyr - you don’t have to do anything. I’ve got to get stuff done around the house, etc. etc.
Pretty low key this weekend. I am hoping for some time with a glass of wine around a fire.
I am probably doing a 5k tomorrow. However, I don't know that I am looking forward to it. When the route has a road name with the word hill in it, it can't be good. I'm hoping to make good time running, hill and all.
Dd is going to the haunted houses for a bday party tonight. Some of the other moms were going, but I can't handle all that ruckus after a busy week. Dd has never been scared of those things so she will be fine. We were somehow talked into a haunted house in Gatlinburg when she was 8, which turned out to be scarier than we thought. She was unfazed, while some of the older kids were screaming the entire time.

Tonight we are going to our high school's football game. Our nephew is doing really well and we haven't watched yet this season. DH works tomorrow and MIL is taking DS for a little bit. I might try to nap with DD since neither one of us are getting good sleep. I really wish I could figure out what her deal is. This no sleeping thing is killing me. Sunday is DH's birthday. He might be going to a festival and taking DS with him or he might be helping a coworker with harvest, which for him is like a dream. We also have dinner and cake for him and his grandpa since they share a birthday.
In between those things I'll be straightening the house, getting DS's hair cut and getting ready for our vacation since we leave Tuesday.

Tonight I'm going to head to the gym after work. I think. I didn't bring my gym clothes which means I have to go home first...which means I might not make it to the gym. Then it's just some kind of dinner and bed.
Tomorrow is DD's first day with her knew gymnastics class (after Harvey people dropped out of her old one and she ended up as the only kid and people haven't come back). DH also made an appointment for the kids to go to the dentist and then we have my niece's birthday party. So it's a full day. Which is kind of a pain b/c this morning the entire clothes rack in DH's closet came out of the wall and fell down...so that's a project we need to work on. I need a new closet. But that's a house remodel so. I guess we'll fix the rack.

Literally my job. Will not be going in any haunted houses. I volunteered to be the designated driver, since we're going out to eat before hand.
We have very little planned for the weekend. DD1 is skipping her dance class tonight - she has a sinus infection and hasn't felt like doing activities all week - so that gives us back a little bit of our evening. It is supposed to be beautiful today, and I'd love to do something outside. Maybe grill and then have a fire in the fire pit.
Tomorrow morning the girls have ice skating (we'll see if DD1 feels up to it). I need to try to get DD2's glasses fixed - she has two pairs and has broken both of them! I'm going to dinner and the symphony with some girlfriends tomorrow night. And we have nothing else planned for the weekend.
mustardseed2007 - I'd have a better shot of buying new clothes and shoes then going than getting to escape again after going home!
Tonight we have five kids total sleeping over. Matching PJs for the bday girl and her friends (tradition - for her, never done for my oldest and my son isn't into it).
Biofeedback in the morning. Then all three have games at the same time, which is kind of nice but they are all kind of miffed because I wasn't here last weekend/this week for games so far. Whatever - I've seen 2953 games so far and have 7521 to go.
Sunday is church, errands, handbells, youth.
DD has high cholesterol (the only one of us so far) so I need to research that. So far I have figured out that the yogurt she likes is high in saturated fats. I need to dig through all her favorite things. Because, you know, I don't spend enough time obsessing about food with her sister's starch thing.

We have tickets to a Casper Babypants concert on Saturday, then Children's Theatre on Sunday.
Somewhere in there we are doing chores, and also coming up with visual charts to make our morning and evening routines go more smoothly. And a tentative play date.
DH and I have a date night tonight! We are going to get dinner downtown somewhere and then we are going to see Monty Python and the Holy Grail. After the movie, John Cleese will be there for Q&A. I'm so freakin excited! Tomorrow, I'll hit the gym and then DD has a softball game in the afternoon. DD is going to a sleepover at my parent's house since my niece will be there. And Sunday will be a lazy day with the kids. It will finally start to feel like fall with highs in the low 70s, which is a lot better than the 90s we were seeing last weekend.

2chatter, this is random, but was your daughter's thyroid also checked when they checked her cholesterol? Bloodwork years ago uncovered I was extremely hypothyroid and I had an inexplicably high cholesterol level. With my eating and exercise habits at the time, the cholesterol was a huge surprise but the doctor actually kind of lectured me about it and made me feel bad. Miraculously, when my thyroid level was back in check, so was my cholesterol level.
I know that's just one of many possible explanations for your daughter, but it seems like PCPs don't always make the connection that thyroid irregularities mess with your metabolism in other ways and this is one possible outcome. Of course, my doctor was also kind of a jerk.
2chatter, The universe is telling you that you should become a nutritionist and know all things food. That's my takeaway.
We have older boys this weekend. I am planning a purge of the house. DH and I hit up our closet last week now boys are getting their rooms. We have so much stuff that we don't need or use.
I have been working 10+ hours this week to get everything done. I am so tired right now I can't think straight. Looking forward to a low key weekend.
Tomorrow DD has an early football game so that stinks, but at least it doesn't ruin the whole day. We have no other plans except I will be making DD's Halloween costume:
No interesting plans. Kids are usually exhausted on Fri afternoon, so we will lay low. DD1 has soccer tomorrow afternoon, but it's supposed to rain, so it may be canceled. DH wants to close the pool on Sat or Sun. He's leaving Sun afternoon for an overnight work trip.
Selfishly, my birthday is Tuesday. We always do something the weekend before my birthday, because DD1's birthday is 3 days after mine, and my dad's is 2 days after hers. So next weekend is chock full of other birthday celebrations. DH has clearly planned nothing. I bought myself a new Fitbit because mine died, so that's my present. Im totally taking myself out to a nice lunch in Wed if he doesn't do anything. Happy birthday to me!!!
frozenpeas - they literally did a finger prick non fasting cholesterol screen. He said they will retest next year and to modify diet now. I'm super curious though if there is more to it. It seems odd, but then again this is the child who will eat an entire container of strawberries (2lbs) AND a whole bag of Goldfish meant to last the family a week. As a snack.
Two of my HS friends from out of state are in town this weekend so we are all meeting up for dinner tonight. First night trying an actual babysitter so I hope it goes well. She's a teacher at our DC so the girls already know her and she's always telling me DD1 was her favorite and how she misses her so it should be fine. DD1 has a dairy allergy so I've never trusted anyone before but this teacher is very familiar with it.
We have DD2's birthday party on Sunday so we'll be preparing for it on Saturday and I need to figure out how to make a monkey cake.
This weekend is nuts, I have a work thing this afternoon/evening which I am not looking forward to. But there is free booze. Just got a note from daycare, apparently they might have lead dust in the soil from a nearby construction project. I am taking the wait and see approach while they test the soil. Tomorrow there is a football game, and we are hosting a bunch of people for it. DS wants to have an apple cider stand on the front lawn, which I need to make some treats for and I will help him with it. I'm excited that he is so excited.....although I need to convince him that DD can help. On Sunday, we are down for refreshments after church, I need to get that together. And I am hoping to convince everyone to go apple picking on Sunday after church things.

Gym, soccer, work on putting Halloween costumes together for our camping trip next weekend.
My big kids are Harry and Hermione. H is Sirius Black and I found an awesome faded prisoner outfit at goodwill. I'm professor sprout and my toddler will be a mandrake. I'm cutting the bottom out of a flower pot which will be held up with makeshift suspenders. And a hat made of florals.
2chatter, DD1 had a case of strep that we couldn't shake at the beginning of the summer. In addition to throwing out toothbrushes, my sisters (both pediatric nurses) recommended replacing pillowcases after the first full day of antibiotics. I went a step further and gave her a new pillowcase for the first few nights. I also threw out her toothbrush immediately and gave her a new one to use while on abx. Then I threw that one out when we were done with abx and gave her another one.
Apparently I get to spend Friday night at the walk on Clinic because Charlotte says both ears hurt. Any bets on whether she has an infection or was just being "creative" at school.

Dh is oot this weekend helping a friend so I'm on my own with the boys. Tomorrow is soccer, swim, haircuts and either church or an activity at the children's museum. Sunday is either church or a home day with no plans.

The kids are spending the night at my parents tomorrow. Wooo! H and I had a lot of outside plans (including a food and wine fest) and it's supposed to rain all weekend so we are torn between continuing plans with an umbrella or finding something else to do. It's supposed to be a light rain so probably the first.
I am also going to give my floors a good cleaning.

We made it to SF. Our flight arrived early, the BART trip was easy and we were able to check in 2 hours early. The hotel is perfect. We walked to North Beach for great pizza for lunch. DS wanted ice cream, so Ghiradelli ice cream was for dinner because why not?
Tomorrow is the farmers market and wandering around the city. More of the same Sunday and we fly home really early Monday. It's windy and rainy at home and 70's and nice in SF. It's shaping up to be a great weekend.
