Chickens are notoriously unreliable.
My update: almost found an attorney. The ones I've met with so far all confirmed all the advice I've gotten on here, so thinking...WPs, will you represent me?
I have one too: the guidance counselor observed DD in class earlier this week in response to the K teacher's request for a behavior modification plan. She reports that DD was attentive and interacting appropriately with peers and teacher. So there will be no school-sanctioned plan because the counselor did not see any behavior that needs modifying.
I was relieved at first and now I am relieved and I want to laugh. Poor K teacher really didn't get what she wanted out of that interaction. We're still going to meet with the teacher but not till 10/19. By that point, I expect/hope DD will have continued adjusting and made more friends and the whole thing will be a non-issue.
I also cannot get a child psychologist to pick up the phone when I call or call me back when I leave a message. Good thing I didn't urgently need one as the folks practicing around here don't seem to be able to operate a telephone.
It's Thursday and DH gets home tonight. I need to pick DS up from the bus stop at 3:15pm and then we will go shoe shopping for him at Target, because they also have filled my special order prescription that they had. I am drowning in work, but hope to make some headway after the kids are in bed.

My fake doctor's note coworker continues to be a scammer. She just told me this morning that she designated her cats as service animals via an online company so she can get a break on her rent, future airline travel and tax write offs. She was supposed to be out of here by the 20th of this month for her location swap, but it might be delayed because HR still had her listed as under disciplinary action even though she has completed her time off without pay.
One suite rented. I was doing background checks on a couple that came last night and are interested in the other. Several charges, arrests, warrants, mostly for theft as far as I can tell. NOPE NOPE NOPE you are not moving into our house. Moving on.

I got sucked into the whole essential oil scheme and ordered a whole bunch of products upon the recommendation of a friend - she has asthma, is an oncology nurse, and wasn't selling the products; so I thought I'd just take her word for it. But then through some research, found that some of the oils I ordered are not safe for kids. And my whole purpose was to use it for the kids to help booster their immune system.
Car Accident from the end of 2016 update: DH got a packet from an attorney. He is being sued by the other driver. I didn't read much other than the first page last night before practice and told him he needed to call the insurance co and find out if he needed to do anything as he was CC on it. Other guy wants pain and suffering and a big check. I was told by the claims people that once my PIP was finalized I would also be able to get a check for bodily injury so am interested to see how much he gets for his concussion + injuries and to see what they will offer me as I'm not going to be going the lawyer route. I find it weird that I could sue my own husband on our join auto insurance. With this said DH had finally put the accident behind him and now is totally freaking and being more cranky than normal. I'm really glad I bought umbrella coverage and don't have to worry about paying anything out of pocket because medical went over the auto insurance part.
DH meeting up with some girl on Facebook. I told him I didn't want him going out with her aka helping her out which pissed him off and lead to him saying that I don't want him to have friends and a bunch of other BS. He seems to be a little better since he saw his therapist on Tuesday but still has his back up.

We are on vacation 12 hours from home. Potential hurricane on the way starting Saturday and hitting land Sunday. We may leave and go to Gatlinburg for the rest of the trip.
traveltheworld , which oils did you find were not safe for kids? Some are age-dependent.
supertrooper1 , I had to LOL about your coworker getting her cats designated as service animals. WOW.
Mainly eucalyptus. I bought the DoTerra brand and the two oils that I was intending to use on my kids, OnGuard and Breathe, both contain eucalyptus. According to DoTerra's own website, these blends are safe for children (they actually have OnGuard toothpaste specifically for kids) - their rationale being that the concentration levels are low enough to not be dangerous. But of course, the Google universe shows that others have differing opinions. Since there's so little research done in this area, I'm not sure what to believe. I don't mind using it and have it not be effective since that's the risk you take with any alternative medicine, but obviously I don't want to use it if it would actively harm my children.
DH and I were supposed to have a kid free long weekend, so he could do bachelor party Saturday, and we could go to his BFF's wedding Sunday. Then my mom got rushed into emergency gallbladder surgery and they can no longer take the kids. So our weekend is shot to hell, I don't currently have anyone to watch the kids while I attend the wedding, and I'm feeling really anxious about all of it. This guy was the best man in my wedding. I will feel like a complete asshole if I can't be at his wedding that DH is officiating. Ugh. But at least my mom is out of surgery and doing fine!
twinmomma, does YH have any students or co-workers who would watch the girls? I'm sorry your weekend is in chaos but glad your mom is okay
2chatter, I think I talked about it in open letters last week... DH recently (last 6 months) has gotten on to Facebook thanks to his therapist and has been reconnecting with a bunch of people from high school even though he constantly tells me he had no friends during high school because no one liked his brother (eye rolling). This girl he went to school with and she has been asking him to meet up with her at bars for a drink after work. I don't believe he has done that but they exchanged phone numbers and has been texting with her and she needed help moving a couch and he jumped at helping her. The girl is hot and the asking him out to drinks bugged me and then the whole him jumping at helping her and his avoidance of me afterwards sent out major red flags. When I tried to get him to talk he clammed up and it was me playing 20 questions with him giving me one word answers so I just flat out told him I didn't like him going out with her.
186momx - uuggghhh. Awful. I love his therapist for this.
I think I mentioned the chaos of my being out of town...and DD having a hard time. Well, the injury that I kind of blew off because she was still able to play - it was a break. She's in a cast for four weeks. WTG me parenting moment there. But on the upside I love our sports med practice. Appointment including X-rays and cast in less than an hour. She's back at school.
186momx, We definitely have some kids of his that we've used before, he's scouring school today to see what he can line up, while I put frantic pleas on Facebook and hope someone can help out. I'm hoping we can find someone, so I can at least go for a little bit. It's a daytime wedding and I can't figure out if that will make it easier or worse to find someone.

Can you take the kids or at least just to the ceremony then bail at the reception if it is adults only?

Nope. Invitation specifically said venue does not allow children under 10, and ceremony is at the venue. I think we found someone though!

This is a subject that I'll mention in a future TWERK: My dad called me tonight to say his sister/my aunt may have lung cancer. She is going to have a biopsy done this week to determine if it is cancer, and if so, what stage. Stage 1 or 2 they will operate on to remove, and stage 3 or 4 they will do chemo and radiation. I am so sad tonight. My aunt recently turned 69.
twinmomma, so sorry your weekend plans were messed up, but I'm really glad to hear your mom is doing ok after her emergency surgery!
DS’s toilet vs penis sitch is fine. Not even a bruise. But he refuses to pee standing up now.
New air conditioning/heating unit was successfully installed and is working well. So yay!
Sounds like your bathroom is going to stay a little cleaner.
...I have a friend who forces her husband to pee sitting down because it’s more sanitary... just had to throw that out there.
At home, DH and DS pee sitting down. That is how DH was taught. I'm fine with it. They both stand and use urinals fine out of the house. Sooooo much better than when I cleaned the bathroom that I shared with my dad and brother.
Covergirl82, I hope it isn't lung cancer. Lung cancer is so awful! But if so I hope they catch it early. My sFIL was dx'd at stage 4, and had 2 good years with good QOL and then 6 months not so good after that before he passed. But the 2 years was more than anyone expected, so that is good! There are a number of medications now that just 5-10 years ago did not exist.
You guys. DD1 has a black eye. Because the door wasn't enough this week, she somehow walked into a moving hula hoop or something, and has a major shiner. The best part? This is the SECOND time the kid has walked into a moving hula hoop since school started. WTF kid?!
Covergirl82, I will say a prayer for your aunt. My dad had lung cancer back in 2008. When he was at the hospital for a pre-op appointment for surgery to have a hernia fixed, he was dx'd with prostate cancer. Then, when he was at a pre-op appointment to have his prostate removed, somehow they uncovered lung cancer. He ended up having 1/3 of one of his lungs removed, then his prostate, then he eventually got the hernia taken care of. Almost 10 years later and he's a reasonably healthy 75yo.
