NYT on The Broken Earth trilogy

CEP people might find this interesting. It's not a spoilery review anyway, but the first two or three parapraghs are background/cultural/genre implications and not about the book details at all.

I do love Jemisin's writing, but I have to take breaks between each novel. They are DENSE! So many images and ideas to ponder!

Ha! I just ordered the kindle version of The Fifth Season for my eldest daughter. She loves her other books. We're big fantasy and sci-fi nerds and it's important they read books written by WoC, especially Black women writing in a genre dominated by white men. She's read Octavia E. Butler's Parable of the Sower and really enjoyed it.

I’m halfway through the first one now and enjoying it. So creative and detailed! Very dense writing, though, and intense subject matter - it’s taking me a while to get through it.

I saw this article a week or so ago. I'm number 116 on 10 copies. I'll be waiting awhile, but I'm excited to read it!
