A lot of shady stuff has been happening

On this base and I can't find any details of it in the media. I'm not much of a news reader but lately, some stuff has been happening here and going unreported.

Ever since that soldier went and shot up all those poor people in Afghanistan, the stuff that gets released to the media is minimal. Well, ever since that and the soldiers who stole 600k worth of equipment to sell in the black market.

A month ago, H and I drove on post from a night out and there was a huge accident. A guy was chased down by the MPs and crashed-- the passenger died. I can't find anything on it.

A few weeks ago, the DEFAC was on lockdown. Supposedly someone carried their weapon in there and fired shots. Nothing on this in the local news. Most units have even said that it was just a rumor but it 100 % wasn't.

2 weeks ago, a soldier stabbed his meth head wife to death on post. Nothing in the paper until a family member of the deceased contacted them to tell them the details that the base wouldn't divulge.

Last night, I woke up to about 5 cop cars with their sirens blaring down my street and I think I heard about 4 gunshots. Wtf. Is this normal?!

I really like living here but I think it's shady as fuck that JBLM won't release any of this information to the local papers. Maybe I'm just not googling right.

Do you guys have stuff happen that frequently at your duty station? I guess I just want to feel like this is semi normal lol

We don't live on base so honestly what little that I actually hear about is through H. But nothing like what you have described. I don't think I'd want to live where you are. : /

There's shady stuff everywhere. I lived near a small base, but it per capita had the highest rates of a lot of nastiness. This is why I side eye people who live on base because it's "safer."

I dunno. I don't really feel like much more happens at JBLM than at any other base we've been to.

Lol no that's not it. That's something else. The accident I'm talking about happened in August and was on base.

I don't usually go around searching for bad stuff happening. I kindda like
living in my clueless bubble but I feel like I've been seeing a lot of weird stuff lately and can't find much of anything on it. Something just feels off. I'm going to start conjuring up conspiracy theories...soon.

On our base we had the mom who neglected her 3 kids (1 died) that I posted about a few weeks ago. We have also had a couple of men arrested for soliciting a minor. That is all I have really heard of in the 2 years we have been here.
