Bath or shower?

Are the 5yos taking baths still? Or moved on to showers? Do they shower alone with no guidance? If they are still taking a bath are they washing themselves? Or are you doing all the work?
I've been talking with some moms of 6yos who talk about their kids showering and it made me wonder when to switch over?

She sometimes hops in the bath with D but mainly showers herself independently. Always washes herself and has for several years. D washes himself too.

Bath if we're trying to waste time, shower if we're in a hurry. He washes himself usually without any help, but we always give him a good scrub down on Sunday nights. I also tend to help him out more in the summers when he's covered in sun screen.

Both, I let her pick. Most nights she prefers a bath. She washes herself but once a week I give her a good scrub or if she is really dirty.

Dd prefers showers now. I wash her hair when it needs to be washed, but she does everything else.

Baths, but she can take a shower with assistance. We're working on teaching her to scrub herself, but we will probably do her hair for awhile. If her brother didn't take baths we'd probably try to switch to showers but until they stop bathing together it's just easier to give her a bath with him.

We do showers now mainly because we're trying to get her to bed earlier and baths take forever. She can wash her body but I usually do her hair for her.

Showers most of the time. He'll occasionally want to get in with R, but most of the time he insists on a shower. He does still seem to need assistance on the sequence of what to do IN the shower though

Both mine shower most of the time. I still wash their hair though. Daniel is getting better at rincing it but Alexander screams and freaks out (bath or shower).

Baths mainly because he still loves to play in the tub and both boys take them at the same time. He'll shower if we're short on time but I still help him.

They take a bath together and I do all the washing. There were a few weeks they preferred showers but that didn't last.

So crazy! I'm sure if we didn't have Logan we maybe would have switched sooner. We tried it out last night and she did okay and said she liked it. So maybe we will make the switch. It'd be hard to fit 3 kids to a tub come April anyways. Haha.

Our new house has no tub, so everyone showers (even the baby). I supervise and scrub if I feel like he’s skipping bits, but mostly try and let him do it on his own.

This seems fitting for this thread. Alexander in the corner pissed because we turned the water off and he doesn't want to get out.

Mostly showers since the summer. It can still take forever, but still faster than baths. Sometimes I do a little "pre treatment," but he does the rest himself.

almost always showers with my H. They will shower alone but they don't do a great job with soap and shampoo. I feel like they don't get clean enough in the bath

They take showers together. There was a short stint before we started bathing together that Ari was doing fairly independent showers. And then we opted for ease rather than independence. Oh well.

My kids take a bath together. They both love it and it is easy to just do it all at once. T washes himself and does his hair, but we rinse.

He hates the idea of a shower. He hates sprinklers and water being sprayed on him. I am not sure how to even approach the idea of shower with him yet.

Ummmm.... Elliot still screams if any water gets anywhere near his face. Washing his hair is a nightmare. I see no showers in the near future.

I don't think my kids will ever be able to wash their own hair. I'm starting to feel depressed.

DD usually takes a shower. Maybe once every two weeks, she wants a bath. When she does take a shower, she needs help with shampoo. She likes to play a game where she doesn't wash one thing, then makes me guess. "Did you wash your arms? Did you wash your legs?" Until I guess what she didn't wash and then she giggles and washes it. She likes the game a lot more than I do, but I'm afraid if I don't play, she just won't wash whatever it is!
