I have a very long to-read list on goodreads (in part because of so many good recommendations on here). I’m finding the turnover in books in our pretty large library system (and nearby systems) is eliminating so many books that are only a few years old (maybe in the 3-15 year age range). Where do you get books that the library doesn’t have anymore? I’m not a huge ebook reader but have a tablet. I’ll also start going to the library sales more, but the number of books there is overwhelming.
Part of me (this year specifically) feels I need to rush through the book I’m reading to get to another.. Thoughts, ideas?
A large library in our area just got renovated and actually has less books now to focus on dvds and computers :/
Did they actually reduce the collection, though? An urban library near me did that too, but the books were just moved within the system. So that particular location has fewer books and more computers, because the community that uses that location needs computer access, but the books are still easily accessible from other locations (such as suburban branches where most patrons have computer access without issue).
mrspez07, I buy used copies from amazon sometimes. More often I move on to something else on my list. My library system has nearly everything I've wanted, though.
Have you asked a librarian about specific books? They might be willing to re-purchase or if not they might be able to help you track it down another way.

They don't have them anymore. The entire systems is being reduced with the actually books they carry. All the libraries are being renovated to have more of an electronic focus.
Libraries getting rid of new-ish books - I didn't know this was a thing. I just assumed libraries kept all the books that they could, and would sell less popular books, or book titles with many duplicates. Clearly I know nothing of the library system.
I second the use of ILL. I love that feature. I also love that my local library has e-book lending. This is new to me too, since my old library didn't have that option.
