Happy Monday, ladies! I know this is a big week for plenty of you. I have some questions mostly related to FF. Please also feel free to add your own questions if you have them.
1. FF went from “probably not fertile” to “most fertile” based on cervical mucus and CD alone. How common is it to never get a positive OPK if I’m testing daily (and the past few days twice daily)? I’m using the clear blue smiley face kind (binary yes/no response)
2. How long do you typically get the “most fertile” alert on FF? I know YMMV but I’m curious if this is typically a short window or nothing too exciting.
3. How the hell am I supposed to tell if my cervix is open? It’s definitely high and soft.
4. Any tips on using preseed? It feels so clinical to inject myself. Does anyone use it like normal lube? (Squeeze a little out and place it externally as needed?)

I never got a positive OPK with my daughter. And I didn’t get one this time around either - but I think I may have stopped taking them too soon (plus they were expired - oops!). With DD I was taking them all the time and my cycles were extremely, extremely consistent so I definitely should have gotten a positive.

I get most of my fertile CM days prior to ovulation, from about 5 days before. And I ovulate late, which pissed off FF the first few months I entered data into it before it got the hang on my specific cycle. The OPK will definitely be the controlling factor beyond anything other than the temp shift, once you get a positive. If you're ovulating my RE said it's pretty unusual for the OPK not to show positive, especially on a digital, which is what they have me use to time IUI.
FF usually gives me 3-4 days of fertile time before my expected ovulation dates, which are usually also another 3-4 days until I get my OPK and it adjusts to one day. I have irregular cycles and don't ovulate on the same day so it doesn't know what to do with me.
I don't even try to figure out my cervix. It always feels the same to me.
I've never used pre-seed, but apparently it's good to get it way up there close to your cervix like CM would be, so I'd probably inject it personally. That said, our entire process could be considered "clinical" and that's just kind of... the way it is so I guess I'm used to it. Maybe that is coloring my view.
seeyalater52, helpful to know - particularly that digis are worth the $. I'm looking to place a second order for OPKs and will stick with these then and KOKO!
to clarify, you end up with 6-8+ total days of "fertile time" on FF, right??

I think so? To be honest I don’t pay all that much attention to them because it’s not like I can do anything about getting pregnant on those days. But if I remember it’s usually 3-4 days of fertile and 3-4 of expected/possible ovulation dates. I start using OPKs to test before that window and don’t stop until I get a positive (somewhere between cd18 and cd22 so far.)
Is this your first cycle using FF? I seem to remember that mine went back and forth between probably fertile and probably not fertile quite a few times during my first cycle, because it didn't have any historical data to use as a reference. It just had to make assumptions based on the estimated cycle length I entered (which wasn't very accurate because I had no idea what my cycle lengths would be).

it's my first month temping, using OPKs, and entering CM/cervical positioning but I back entered 12 months of cycle data since I've been logging that for years on iPeriod. so it has my average cycle length, ETC and can estimate fertile week based on historical data but I've never confirmed ovulation before so who knows how accurate it is
