I was seeing a therapist for grief counseling last year after my mom passed away unexpectedly and it ended up not being a good fit.
Backstory: The therapist was really scattered and I should have ran away fast in the beginning, but I stuck it out and we ended up missing two weeks of sessions (I only saw her about 4-5 times total) once was because she was having eye surgery and the next week was my fault because I was taking my dad for his colonoscopy. We had spoken on the phone when she called to cancel because of her eye surgery and we agreed on our next session date. I went back at the agreed upon time/date and ended up sitting in her waiting room for an hour because she was with another client. When she came out, she was flustered when she saw me sitting there and asked me what my name was! I was so upset that I left and never went back, never mind that I had spilled my guts out to this "therapist" and opened myself up to her, but then to have her forget my name and why I was there?
Anyway, I guess a letter from my current therapist who I've been seeing for the last six months wasn't enough for the reviewer and our social worker asked me to sign a release for her to contact my former therapist. Yesterday I got a text from our social worker saying that she had contacted my former therapist and she now knows what I meant by her "not being a good fit". She then went on to tell me that when she spoke to former therapist, she was scattered and pretty mean. She was going to charge me $50 for a letter, got mad at the social worker for questioning the charge, and then hung up on our social worker. Our social worker wasn't going to make us pay $50 for a three line letter and confirmed with the reviewer that it was ok not to have it.
I can't wait until this is over. We have everything in and are just waiting for the final approval.
