I'm listening to a really cheesy macho romance called Time Served. The only thing that's keeping me in it is that the sex scenes are HOT. Zero points for plot.
I just started Maggie Stiefvater's new book All the Crooked Saints.
QOTW: I'm sad because I no longer have any must watch TV. GoT and Outlander, but On Demand and Netflix has taken away the urgency of watching live TV. I'm so out of practice!

I'm reading I'm Judging You: The Do-Better Manual. I just started it last night but I've loled quite a few times already.
QOTW: The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead, Talking Dead (I think there needs to be a show like this for every tv show), Outlander, This Is Us, Designated Survivor, Survivor, Scandal, Supernatural (H and I started this on Netflix over the summer and caught up just in time for it to start this week), Real Time, Last Week Tonight, Full Frontal and The Daily Show. I have a bunch of others that I watch but they can usually sit on my DVR for a while.
Read last week: Land of the Beautiful Dead by R. Lee Smith - fantasy romance; 4.5 stars; this book cemented this author as one of my new favorites! She writes some seriously crazy human/non-human romance books that I just love, and these are HUGE novels (700+ pages) Rhapsodic by Laura Thalassa - PNR/fantasy romance; 4 stars; it's like a watered down version of A Court of Mist and Fury, but even watered down, I still really liked it! Saga, Vol #5 by Brian K. Vaughan - graphic novel; 4 stars; maybe not as 'fun/funny' as the previous volumes, but this is still a really great series of graphic novels (says the girl who doesn't read graphic novels) The Duchess Deal by Tessa Dare - historical romance; 3 stars; this was cute, maybe a little too cute for my liking? Wicked Intentions (#1 in series) by Elizabeth Hoyt - historical romance; 3 stars; there's some BDSM in there which is a little strange for the historical romance genre, and while this didn't blow my mind it did interest me enough to make me want to pick up another book in this series
Currently reading: A Mother's Reckoning: Living in the Aftermath of Tragedy by Sue Klebold - non-fiction; this is written by Dylan Klebold's mother about the Columbine shooting. I'm very early into this but so far it's interesting. A Strange Hymn (#2 in series) by Laura Thalassa - PNR/fantasy romance; just picked this up, fingers crossed I like it as much as the first book
QOTW: The only shows I regularly watch is Project Runway and The Daily Show. That's it. I could very easily go without watching any tv at all, we only keep it for the kids pretty much.

Oooh I am interested in seeing what you think of it. The Scorpio Races is still my favorite book of hers.

I'm interested to hear what you think of A Mother's Reckoning. I'm about 3/4 of the way into it and want to discuss.

I'm still in the middle of Nasty Women but I can only read it sporadically because I'm trying like hell to memorize my Tempest lines.
QOTW: Since we only have an antenna most of my TV watching occurs later via Hulu or Netflix. I got into Midnight, Texas and would watch those, usually the next day, on Hulu. We also do that with SNL and The Good Place, and will also likely do the same when New Girl comes back on. Since we're used to DVRing stuff we rarely watched anything during real time airing except for the news.

I'm reading Before the Fall and liking it a lot!
QOTW--the only show I watch is modern family, but I just realized yesterday that we haven't started the new season since we started family movie nights on fridays, when we used to watch mf. I had a neighbor over yesterday and she was appalled we don't own a tv...

I'm reading Beartown right now. It's moving slowly and better pick up soon or I will abandon it for Tower of Dawn that I just got from the library and is calling my name quite loudly lol. Listening to Caraval and am about halfway through. I was excited about the plot line but it's really falling flat for me. I'm annoyed with pretty much all of the characters.
QOTW - I stream all my TV so I don't really have any must watch shows.

I think I'm going to pick this up next. I've seen it mentioned a bit lately. Have you both read Columbine? That's my favorite Non-fiction.
I'm reading Suffer the Children and enjoying it so far. I was between books for a while and nothing was appealing to me. I wanted something light but ended up going with a horror novel instead in honor of the season.
QOTW: The only show we try to watch live is Gotham although I think we're a week behind now. We also do mini binges of Brooklyn 99, Superstore, and Blackish On Demand.
I am also really excited for Vikings to return next month. This will be the first season where I am caught up and can watch it live.
I'm about halfway through Marion Zimmer Bradley's The Mists of Avalon and enjoying the re-read. I'd forgotten a ton of the details beyond that it's about King Arthur's sister Morgaine and there's a King Arthur, Guinevere (Gwenhwyfar), and Sir Lancelot (Lancelet) love triangle, so I'm glad I picked it up again.
I'm also listening to Stephen King's Running Man, which he wrote under his Richard Bachman pseudonym. The audiobook actually started with King describing Bachman as an identity and comparing/contrasting King's and Bachman's writing, which was kind of interesting.
QOTW: I was watching GOT faithfully, but otherwise I mostly binge watch stuff on Netflix. I'm in the middle of the most recent season of House of Cards at the moment, but I'll go weeks between watching and then watch 3-4 episodes at a time in the background while I'm doing something else.

I've been thinking of The Tempest after finishing Margaret Atwood's retelling Hag Seed. It was really interesting, though it probably would have been even more so if I had remembered the original play better. Who are you playing?
Finished: It’s Always the Husband - Not good. One of the worst this year for me. The writing was flat and the story was predictable. Also STOP WRITING BOOKS WITH HELPLESS WOMEN! Gah had to get that out.
Every Last Lie - ok Mary Kubica if your editors won’t fix your books I can’t read another one. Yet another whiny millennial couple with a book that goes from narrator and time period but leaves a ton of holes in the end. I can’t decide if she’s just stopped trying as a writer or if her editors don’t care that the books never answer half of the open questions.

I'm playing Antonio, but both my character and Prospero are being played by women so we're Antonia and Prospera. I'm loving being a villain!

I'm still reading A Pint of Murder. I'm really enjoying it, and can definitely tell it's a Canadian book written by a Canadian. I'm really enjoying it and I hope the hint go romance continues with the principal players. It's been great fun so far and the method of murder has been ingenious.
QOTW: I've really gotten into American Housewife after the entire first season was offered free on iTunes. I'm hoping it will be picked up here or I'll have to buy it on iTunes. I tend to buy the DVDs or season passes on iTunes for shows I know I watch and want to watch again and again. But really the only shows that i have as Must Watch are Jeopardy! and Major Crimes.
I’m reading Modern Girls by Jennifer S Brown. It’s my choice for my IRL book club and I like it so far. I’m on a vacation with just my DH and I had hoped to get through more of it but haven’t.
QOTW: don’t watch TV that often anymore. When we do, DH and I watch Netflix and have been watching blacklist and Broadchurch.
I finished The Folded Clock: A Diary, last night, and started The Hate U Give. Although I just realized I had my dates wrong and my book club is this week, and I probably should have started Eleanor & Park instead, because I need to get that get finished by Thursday.
QOTW: My relationship with TV is complicated...LOL! I'll save you the long story, but these days my *must watch* shows are Game of Thrones,Rick and Morty, and The Good Place, most everything else I consume at a much more leisurely, less obsessive pace, and I'm better off for it. My H also hates binge watching things, so when something we're both watching comes out, like OINTB or Ozark, we don't watch the entire thing in a weekend or over the course of 2-3 nights, we watch it one episode per night, and probably not even every night.
I will however build up recordings of things and binge watch them on my Tivo and use the fast speed option. It helps make The Walking Dead more tolerable, because FFS, pick up the pace!
