ohh, please no. Historical fiction is already misunderstood. Just because the book is set in the past doesn't mean it's "historical fiction." Agatha Christie's Poirot books are not historical fiction - they were set in the time during which they were written. Jean Auel's Clan of the Cave Bear series is historical fiction. 1984 is absolutely, positively not historical fiction.
We don't need to confuse this category any more than it already is.

I know the difference between historical fiction and not. I’m not saying any of these books listed are historical fiction. What I’m saying (maybe somewhat TIC) is that writers of the future, in order to achieve certain scenarios and plots may need to write their stories in a historical context, as they will make no sense or be implausible in a modern setting.

Ahh, I can see it that way too. Sorry I misunderstood. I wasn't indicating anyone here on this board doesn't know what historical fiction is, but as a category it is misunderstood by many people out there.
