I think Gunnar should have been auf'd just for saying that he wanted to win PR to buy himself boots and his mom a boob job. Seriously?!

And, Gunnar, that crap was not even remotely related to equestrian chic.
My favorites were Melissa's dress and Sonjia's pants. They did a prints challenge. I don't get why Dmitry won. Yes, his jacket was cool. But it was a jacket challenge now was it? Mondo's critique was spot on there.
LOL at Ven getting trashed. That crap was not even remotely interesting. LOL at Heidi pulling Tim out and grilling him on how he didn't prevent him from doing that rose pleating stuff yet again. So hysterical.

I thought Ven's was worse than Gunnar's. Boring print in a poorly chosen scale that he just used for a throw-away sash. The same damn rose technique. And Heidi was right, the rose next to the hibiscus just seemed weird. Ven can do one thing really really well. But that's it. I really don't think he has anything more to show us. And is attitude, defensiveness, and inability understand his critiques really just make me dislike him. I thought he would be top three in the beginning, but now I think he has lasted too long.
Gunnar doesn't have the best ideas, but at least he has ideas. I was impressed he was able to rework the jacket to what it was on the runway (meh) from what it was at his critique with Tim (hideous). I really did not think he was going to have enough time to recover at that point! So bravo to him for at least "making it work."
I agree that Dmitry won for a solid jacket in a print challenge. It was a super cool jacket. I really want to see it up close and find out how he did that. But it was not his print or the top he made of the print that won. It was that jacket.
I think Melissa should have won. She did a nice print, simple, but interesting. So many get carried away and use too many colors or don't consider the scale and make the challenge harder for themselves. And then she used the print in a effective way. I really thought it was great the way the print was manipulated to flatter the body, narrow the waist etc. Plus it was just a cute dress. I could see that being a huge seller at Banana Republic or Ann Taylor, easily. I thought she did a fantastic job with every aspect of the challenge.
Honestly, I just didn't care for Sonjia's print or the high waisted pants. I thought they were fit well and technically sound, I just thought they were ugly. In contrast to Melissa's design, I could not see many people wanting those pants. I did LOVE her top though. I though that dramatic draped back was gorgeous. Obvious "how do you wear a bra" issues (was that the All Stars season the judges kept focusing on that functionality?) , but it looked beautiful on the runway.

I thought Ven's was worse than Gunnar's too. At least Gunnar didn't use the same technique every single week for the entire show. And Gunnar has a great attitude, whereas Ven is a dick, so to me that should have swayed the decision.
I lol'ed when he said he wanted to buy his mom a boob job. I liked him though.
As for the designs, I didn't think anyone did a super great job. Dmitry's jacket was cool but I think it could have been more impressive as, say, a dress, with an overlay of those shapes. Or something. But the floating effect was cool, and I'm guessing it didn't come across as well on TV as it does in person, given the way they were all freaking out about it.
Dmitry's jacket was awesome, but his print (what you could see of it) was kind of lame, so while I agree with him being in the top I thought Sonjia should have won. Her print was a tiny bit NMS, but I loved the fit of the pants and the top was kind of awesome and went really well with the pants. It kind of felt like Dmitry won just because he finally stepped outside of the box and did something other than a dress.
It makes me bummed that Gunnar got auf'd. I'm tired of Ven being a dick and doing the same damn thing every week.
When this season started, I did NOT like Gunnar. Talk about drama king right out of the gate. But by this week- I really liked him. He's drama, but he also can get past it. And he REALLY seemed to genuinely enjoy this experience and took a lot from it. ANd he took the critiques to heart.
Ven. God. I really wanted him gone this week. He's SUCH a tool.
As for the winner- I agree. While I like Dmitry's jacket, he shouldn't have won for it. While Sonjia's print didn't wow me, I did like her overall outfit better than Melissa's, though. I would have liked to see Sonjia win.
What was up w/ elaina's print? She was safe so we didn't get to hear the judges talk about it- but yack. I assume her actual design is what saved her.

I totally agree with you.
What happened with the judges that they didn't see Elena's scrub with the ugly print? That was awful IMO and much worse that Gunner's outfit.
I was so sad for Gunner, he was really enjoying it and his attitude when he left was great. Ven, on the other hand, when they were telling Gunner he had to go started talking about himself when it was clear that nobody asked for his opinion and it was Gunner's moment, not his. He's so rude and entitled.
I felt differently about the challenge than most of you. Back when either Heidi or Tim were explaining the challenge, he/she said that the judges wanted an interesting outfit that didn't look costumey. Dmitry provided that. That jacket was really cool, but the print provided a hefty assist. I don't think it would have been as interesting if there was a solid color underneath it. He also took the geometrics from the print he made and translated them into another piece. I thought he went the extra step that the others did not.
While Sonjia and Melissa made beautiful outfits, they didn't wow me. Melissa's was too commercial. Sonjia's looked too derivative of the look Mondo did a couple of seasons ago.
I thought for sure they'd send Ven home. He is too far up his own ass.
