A got her first report card. She got an S- in knowing consonant sounds and I’m supposed to work with her. I think I failed phonics because I don’t even know what sounds they are teaching them for each letter lol. She got great marks for behavior and working well with others so that made me happy.

We are dropping the kids off at my MIL's tomorrow morning to spend the night. Dh and I are driving to Alabama tomorrow to pick up our camper. They were doing maintenance on it. Then we are camping overnight in a state park. I'm so excited to get a full night sleep.

I did not do well in phonics as a kid. I was a great reader but could not sound out unkown words unless I had heard them before. In college I had to teach myself phonics during student teaching. It's good she is doing well and I wouldn't worry about the letter sounds as she will get there!
I'm pissed. B told me as he was falling asleep that a 5th grader on the bus came over to him and twisted his arm, asking does this hurt? He says the boy stopped when B told him to, but then asked if he could do it again, but didn't because B said no.
My H is all - this is normal boy stuff, if we hear about another incident bring it up to the school. I really don't think it is appropriate especially given the age difference. I feel like it could escalate to bullying very easily from here and I'd rather it be addressed now.

I think you should notify the school/bus driver. I don't think it's ok to just say it's normal boy behavior, I mean maybe if it was another kindergartener but not a 5th grader doing that to a younger child.
redmonkeystomper that's kind of where I'm at. I probably would be ok with it if it was another K or 1st, but not a 5th grader.
Thanks Loco Coco my H was making me feel crazy for wanting to say something. B won't tell me the boys name, but I just want them to know so that it doesn't escalate. They were doing "roasts" of each other a few weeks ago and a 5th grader (not sure if it was the same one), had done B and said he was a baby and watched Thomas the train. Apparently B said something back and wasn't super upset. B never told me about it - another mom said her 5th grader told her about that and wanted to let me know it was happening.
I’m waiting on A’s first report card. Her first Aimsweb testing came home a few weeks ago and she was doing well, so I’m just waiting on a little extra work for her to do at home since she’s a bit ahead of where she needs to be at this point. Also, we put an offer in on a new house today. Eek! I’m trying not to get too hopeful because another couple went through the house for the second time today and brought a contractor with them. We can’t afford a bidding war, but the place is priced a bit high and needs a little work. It’s so much closer to work/school. It would make our lives a lot easier if we score it. FX

Okay this makes me feel better because I was the same way. I promise I can read lol but I still don’t sound out new words. I need to hear them and then I’m fine and remember them. So maybe she’ll just be like me.
G got her first report card too, she got an E (excellent) in all areas. The only things she could work on are not rushing through her work, cutting things more precisely and coloring things in fully. I also assumed a parent teacher conference meant don’t bring your kid but everyone else had their kids or whole families there. So I guess next year I won’t worry about making sure my H is home.
Both G and C are sick and this has been the longest day everrrrr lol. I am crossing my fingers that my H comes home a little early.
I had the same experience with conferences! I went when my husband was home and left the kids, get there and I’m the only person without my kids. There were tons of both parents and all kids there so they could have left them at home and just sent one parent. I can’t concentrate with H stabbing himself with pencils across the room lol
FWP Boden is having a pretty good sale but I want to see their Christmas release before I commit to something! It’s almost November people and I like to plan ahead, release it please.
We got family photos done for free and they’re so much better than I thought they would be. I’ve used like 7 photographers since A was born but maybe I found one I finally really like!
My husband got a new job, which started with him leaving the country for 3 weeks. I'm just so stressed with my new job that this is really making me crazy.
I have a project due tomorrow and I have no clue what I am doing! I did good on the last project so I'm hoping that will make up for this one. I tried asking questions but the answers didn't help me understand it at all and just confused me more lol.
A is doing this "book club" at school 2 days a week now which means I get to pick her up 30 minutes later and hopefully won't have to wake H up from his nap!
hard! Combo of a brand new school with all students that had no idea about how to be at school and my first year teaching has been tough. Just now seems to be settling down a little with better days here and there. My own 3 kids are doing well there though, although the days are soooooo loooooong for them and they still haven't adjusted fully.

The 1st 2 - 3 years are the hardest but once your first yr is done you will feel so accomplished! Hopefully as the yr goes on you will feel things getting easier.
