Work is having a Halloween potluck and I’m feeling uninspired. Anyone have any tried and true potluck ideas?
I work in a grocery store ... I don’t want to just buy something and bring it to the break room. I have time on Monday when I could potentially cook or bake something.
Whatever it is needs to be ok at room temperature for a few hours, since people tend to take their breaks whenever. The store is providing chips and salsa. The two people who have signed up so far, listed that they were bringing mini quiches and banana bread.
I’m leaning towards a pie or cookies, but wondering if anyone has any really clever ideas to share.

At work people tend to bring crockpot snacks like meatballs or little smokies and then just let it simmer. Lottle smokies taste delicious with apple butter in the pot. The thing that always worries me about potlucks is that not enough people will bring "food with substance" which is why i like this option. Although I've also brought fruit platters from the grocery store when there was enough other main course things on the sigh up sheet.
I don't do very many potlucks anymore but there for a while I brought Rice Krispie treats a lot. You can add decorations to make them Halloween. I like your ideas of cookies or pie as well.
Lots of people bring dips to ours. If they are doing chips you could bring a cheese and bean dip to go with it.
I did all the prep the night before, had the liquid/marinade in a tupperware container and just put it all in the crock pot the morning of and let it cook at work. If you don't want to schlepp a crockpot, I think cooking them ahead and leaving them out would work fine too.

I take Moroccan Carrot-Chickpea Salad. It's a mostly open and dump recipe that looks way fancier. I usually omitted the cashews in case of nut allergies and substituted lemon juice for lemon zest.

I just made crock-pot mac & cheese for a work potluck, and it was easy. I boiled the noodles the night before and then take in the butter, milk, cheese, salt and pepper and assemble it at work. I used one box of noodles, a half of a stick of butter, about 3/4 cup of milk, and two 8 oz. bags of cheese (although I feel like it could've used another 1/2 bag of cheese).
I do fruit salad (berries and one melon) sprinkled with sweetened shredded coconut and while Simple, it’s always a hit because it’s light and healthy and tastes good.
campermom, I made Pumpkin Dip for the last Halloween potluck I had at work (so.. 3, 4 years ago?) It went over really well. (I thought it was nasty though lol)
