So many feelings. I am so, so proud of you and so fucking inspired by your, to stay with the cupcake metaphor , rock solid foundation of strength (the cake part), a (likely bourbon swirled) frosting of dedication that focuses your mind to crush any goal, and a sprinkling of grit (like the delicious sugary sprinkles that take a good thing that extra step.)
I am so glad H is at the gym and the kids are asleep so I could read this without interruption.
You sparked memories in me that I had forgotten, and also painted a perfect picture of your day. The community and kindness that is a group of Ironman athletes on race day - I've never seen anything like it. And the volunteers! Omg the volunteers. They do things you don't even realize you need, but it turns out that you so desperately needed to be cared for for a moment.
I'm so sorry about your stomach. You've been fueling the same way for so long, I can't believe it gut-bombed you. Hugely frustrating. And a spill on the bike - I am SO glad it didn't put you down longer than it did.
What a great way to finish a great journey! So glad you had the red carpet for yourself. Congratulations, congratulations, congratufuckinglations!
IronCupcake, you're amazing, and an incredible athlete. I love this recap, and teared up in many spots, but the guy that told you to go up ahead on the carpet because it was your first time? I'm crying. So proud of you, congratulations Ironman!!!
Congratulations! What an amazing achievement in baddassery (shut up, it's a word!)! It has been inspiring to follow your training. I was watching the feed when you finished and did a little cheer for you, my H now thinks I'm a loon, lol! I'm so sorry this week has been stressful for you but I hope you will revel in your accomplishment for a long time
I kept cursing the announcer ("you're an ironman") because I knew you so badly wanted to hear "you are an ironman." I guess it didn't matter in the moment.
I cannot believe you swam that fast. Literally jaw dropping speed.
Thank you for chronically your journey for this community.

Thanks so much for sharing your adventure, and congratulations! I have been seriously lacking in the H&F mojo department lately, totally consumed with being a mom and an attorney. Ironman is on my bucket list, and although it's not happening for me anytime soon, you're inspiring me to try harder to stay in touch with my H&F life.
Enjoy some rest and time to reflect on an awesome accomplishment!
