I need some new luggage. Currently using a $20 JCPenney special, and I hate it. It falls over because the wheels aren't placed well. I'd love something with the 4 wheels that spin, but don't want to spend a stupid amount of money. Looking for carry on and/or the next size up. I don't need anything huge.
I bought a Delsey spinner because but it was super well reviewed. I like it, but it doesn’t handle carpet. So I would go with bags you can for real test first. I am bummed I spent more and didn’t get an awesome bag.

I love my Briggs & Riley roller. Its probably about 10 years old, I’ve traveled with it quite a bit, and it is still holding up nicely. Very well made. It was probably more than I wanted to spend but not obscene. Plus the lifetime guarantee is pretty attractive but I’ve yet to need it.
freezorburn, Just went to their website. I think DH would divorce me if I suggested dropping $500+ on a suitcase.
Wow ... can’t remember what I spent 10 years ago, but I agree that is steep!
I also vaguely remember that I may have bought a display model in last year’s colors that was discontinued ... so I may have just been lucky in that regard.

Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but I feel like there is no substitute for going to a store and inspecting different products in person. I need to look at the configuration of pockets, and picture if it works with how I pack, whether there are exterior pockets for things I might need easy access to, etc.
Sometimes salespeople are able to tell you when they expect to put things on sale ... or once you have an idea of what you like, you can go online to shop prices.

I bought H Traveller's Club luggage on Amazon for Christmas last year. Fair price and it has served him well the last year. One of the pieces was a Chicago 20" hardside expandable carryon
freezorburn, I'll probably take these recommendations and see what I can find on Black Friday for deals. I figure if anyone has one they love, I can then hunt for a deal on it instead of going in blind and just randomly grabbing something. That's how I ended up with the crappy one I have now.
DH has this bag and it's the best. I've packed for a week in it but it's small enough to carry on. Not super expensive either. It's not available anymore on Amazon but you might be able to find it somewhere else.

I love my FUL bags. They are structured on the bottom with a duffle on top and two amazing end pockets. It’s a checked bag though. For a carryon I like the ebags weekenders but they are backpack carryons for laptops and clothes and fit a lot and are well organized.
I know this is an old thread, but I'm just catching up. I travel for work regularly and love my Samsonite. DH got me a fancy Tumi a few years ago. When the Samsonite breaks, I take it to the Samsonite outlet, and they send it to be fixed and ship it back to me within a week or two for free. When the Tumi broke, I took it to the store and they charged me a $25 fee. I was annoyed about that since I thought the more expensive brand should fix things as cheaply as the lcheaper brand. I like spinner wheels because then I can turn it sideways and push it down the airplane aisle.

We bought two American Tourister spinners last Black Friday. We took one last weekend (first time we used it), and it still looks brand new after the four plane flights. (Although maybe that's more a reflection of Southwest? I'm not sure as that was the first time I'd ever flown Southwest.) Here is a link to it on Kohls: www.kohls.com/product/prd-2367490/american-tourister-burst-spinner-luggage.jsp?color=Circle Print&prdPV=2. We got a plain blue one and the circle print, and took the circle print one on our trip, and boy was the circle print easy to spot on the baggage claim carousel!
I'm a big fan of London Fog bags. I had one for 13 years before it died (the extendable handle stopped working), and got a new one a few years ago. You can typically get them on clearance at Macy's for like $100.
