I finished Save me and Think Twice by Lisa Scottoline. Both were not good at all. I need to find another author that has a ton of audio books available at my library because I'm not sure I can do many more by this author.
I also finished Heir of Fire (Throne of Glass series) and liked it well enough. I am definitely interested in finding out what happens next.
I have a Mary Higgins Clark book I started but I am so early into it that I have no opinion yet. It's like all her other books and I don't expect anything great but something to listen to to pass time at work.
I started The Curse of the House on Cypress Lane, Book 0 which I got free on Amazon. It lured me in but I am not so sure it will stick to where I want to continue with the series.
Apparently I have been reading a lot of historical fiction this week.
Read last week: A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles - historical fiction; 3 stars; see the book club discussion! The Winter King by C.L. Wilson - fantasy romance; 4 stars; this was a re-read (something I rarely do) in preparation for the new book coming out on Oct 31. Warcross by Marie Lu - YA; 3 stars; this could have been so good but then the end was kind of terrible and was done just to make this a series, which I will pass on continuing to read Karolina's Twins by Ronald H. Balson - historical fiction; 3.5 stars; this author's first book is still the best (Once We Were Brothers), but this wasn't bad, just not super great.
Currently reading: The Heart's Invisible Furies by John Boyne - historical fiction; picking this one back up and I am not sure why I put it down in the first place (actually I do, it's a physical copy of the book and I usually read ebooks and audiobooks because they are more convenient) A Game of Thrones, Volume 1 by Daniel Abraham - graphic novel; I'm surprised by how well this is translating into a graphic novel format! Just Like Heaven by Julia Quinn - historical romance; just started it, so no opinion yet
QOTW: Snickers for life! The half-easter egg shaped ones are my specific favorite though, somehow they taste better than a regular snickers bar. Oh and the snickers icecream bars are delish too. GIVE ME ALL THE SNICKERS.

QOTW: Favorite candy is Kit Kat.
I have an audiobooks shelf on goodreads that might help you find something. I listen to a lot of books to pass time at work too.

It's Friday?! I'm 25% into Salt to the Sea. I'm having a hard time keeping the characters apart since the chapters are so short there isn't a chunk related to anyone yet.
I'm listening to Dating You/Hating You by Christina Lauren. It's cute and very The Hating Game-esque. I'm reading the 4th in the Winston Boys series. It's enjoyable.
QOTW: I'm not really sure? I like mostly chocolate things like Milky Ways, but I always, always grab Tootsie Rolls when they're around. They're classic for a reason, right?
I'm about 3/4 of the way through Where They Found Her by Kimberly McCreight. It's fine but definitely not as good as Reconstructing Amelia. At least it's been a quick, easy read which is what I need right now.
Doctor Sleep is up next.
QOTW: This is a hard one. Probably Snickers. Baci if I am feeling fancy.
I am reading The Marriage Lie right now and it's keeping my attention. I'm not far enough into it to say whether it is good or not though.
Earlier this week I read Without Merit by Colleen Hoover and I freaking hated it. I usually enjoy her books and find them quick reads but this was painful.
QOTW: I don't really like candy anymore. My sweet tooth is disappearing as I get older. I do like Dove dark chocolate but that isn't really Halloween candy. My old favorites were all things Reese's.
I'm currently ~50% of the way through Make Room! Make Room! and ~45% of the way through Rules of Civility (which I should be reading right now because I need to finish it for my book club tomorrow).
Make Room! Make Room! is very different than what I expected, and I'm going to need to re-watch Soylent Green when I'm done because I feel like we have Stephen King Lawnmower Man situation going on (even though I knew going into it that it wasn't about cannibalism).
I'm also enjoying Rules of Civility a LOT more than I thought I would, because the synopsis on Goodreads sounds really boring, but so far it's really good, and I like the writing.
QOTW: Reese's PB cups, Twix, Smarties (the powdery sweet American kind, not the weird Canadian M&Ms), Snickers, 3 Musketeers, Kitkats, Babyruth, Sixlets, and so on and so forth. But sadly I've found refined sugars and in particular chocolate is a trigger for my IBS, so I've drastically reduced the amount of candy I eat - which isn't a bad thing, my sweet tooth can really get out of control and I have no off switch.
I am still reading A Discovery of Witches. I am enjoying it, but I found limited time to read this week between work and a cold that has made me extra tired.
QOTW: always chocolate! Heath bars are a favorite.

I just started My (Not So) Perfect Life by Sophie Kinsella at lunch today. I'm ready for some light reading. I'm also about 80% through Nasty Women, but I only read one essay at a time and am not pushing on it. I went to the library on Wednesday and picked up the Kinsella, so naturally two of my e-book holds came in the very next day. You can't win.
QOTW: Heath bars, Reese's, and 100 Grand, although I think I like 100 Grand so much at Halloween because that seems to be the only time during the year you can find fun sized ones of those.
Earlier this week I read Without Merit by Colleen Hoover and I freaking hated it. I usually enjoy her books and find them quick reads but this was painful.
I felt the same way about this book. I was really disappointed.
I feel like it's been a crap book week. I'm not in the mood for anything "smart" but my go to "trashy" authors have been disappointing. I'm only 3 books away from my total-read goal of 100 for the year so I've got some wiggle room. On the other hand, I love reading and not having something to read that I enjoy is sad.
QOTW: I really love Mallowcreme Pumpkins. I think my favorite candy is Reese's PB Cups, though.
I started Right Behind You by Lisa Gardener last night.
QOTW: My favorite candy is Dove dark chocolate covered cherries. If I'm going to sneak candy from the kid's Halloween bags it would probably be Almond Joy.

A coworker leaves a mix of candy on her desk that includes Heath bars. I steal them all.

I hate being in a book slump. The older and busier I get the harder it is to pull out of. The Stephen King I'm reading is good

Yes! I feel like I've been in a book slump since February. I read some great books to start off the year and then since then nothing fantastic.
I'm reading Bryson's In a Sunburned Country because I AM GOING TO AUSTRALIA!!! (dorothyinAus. Because you are one of the two people I "know" in Australia, though the other I have actually met IRL.) Anyway, about the book, it's entertaining so far in the way that Bryson usually is, and definitely makes me excited for my trip. It starts with a train ride all the way from Sydney to Perth, and even though our itinerary is already decided and we have no time for such a journey he makes it sound enlightening.
I'm listening to Louise Penny's Still Life, which I'm enjoying more this time around than the first time I started it and was having trouble getting into it. I can definitely see why people read her books.
QOTW: I like dark chocolate, including with and without nuts (coconut, almonds, peanut butter, etc.).
I guess I need to go and buy some Halloween candy.

I finished the 5th book in Stephen King's Dark Tower series, Wolves of the Calla and started the 6th, Song of Susannah. My husband talked me into reading this series and I am really enjoying it. I was reluctant because I'm not a horror fan (gives me nightmares) but I shouldn't have waited so long. I also read a book written where I grew up called Saving Worms After the Rain: A Novel of Central Pennsylvania by Paul Nelson. It was short, but well written and I really enjoyed it. I listened to Terry Pratchett's The Witch's Vacuum Cleaner on audio and it was decent; like listening to a child's bedtime story. I started Sheila Nevin's You Don't Look Your Age: And Other Fairy tales on audio. It's narrated by a bunch of celebrities but honestly not that enjoyable so far.
QOTW: kitkats and milky way darks please! I don't buy them to hand out because I would eat them ALL!
This was a favorite of my old IRL book club. We had some great conversation around it. I am picking a book for January for my new book club and am considering choosing this again.

Thanks! I needed this, I started getting a bit bored with it and was wondering if I should give up, Ill keep reading !!!
It's Monday now, but life keeps getting in the way of my posting time. I'm reading The Alice Network by Kate Quinn, which I really like so far. Historical fiction, two badass female main characters: good stuff.
Qotw: All the candy, really. But I love Reese's and at Halloween I like to have Bottlecaps.
