I had my hair dyed blonde yesterday and it’s a little more yellow then I wanted so I was going to try to tone it down with purple shampoo. Does anyone have any recommendations?
I use the cheap grocery store Clairol Shimmer Lights. I wash my hair with it, and let it sit for a couple minutes, then rinse. I do this about every week or two. They have a conditioner too but I haven't tried it.
You should let your stylist know that you're not 100% happy and she should fix it. Probably add a toner. Purple shampoos are for maintenance, not color correction, you know?
Ditto everything Pooh said. She should add a toner so it isn't yellow on day 2. I'd be disappointed by that.
I use the same product as pooh, the shimmer lights, and it works well for the color maintenance. It is super harsh and drying though so I follow up with a much stronger conditioner and leave it in longer.
Purple shampoo and conditioner is the best! When I had blondey blonde hair I used it. I have used the pureology kind and the Shimmer Lignts.
The Shimmer lights is a great price. I always bought mine at Sally’s Beauty. I typically bought the conditioner rather than the shampoo though, and let it sit on my hair for 3-5 min in the shower.
I used it for the first few days, everyday. Then went every other!
