I need WiFi router help. Our router is too old and doesn't support the number of electronics we have. We need a new one, but I have no idea what we need. We usually have 3, maybe 4 things connected to the router at a time. I have a WiFi extender connected to it also, but it hasn't been working right because the router isn't working right. To top it off, we have crappy internet with HughsNet because that is the only thing available in our rural area. Help me buy a new router and please provide any other tips you may have.
ETA: Really, I probably just need to pay someone to come to my house and set everything up for us. But it can't be Geek Squad because DH boycotts Best Buy due to some customer service issues years ago.
It worked so much better than the one I was renting from Comcast.
You could you ask an IT person from work if they would be willing to help you get things set up correctly for X dollars?
I recently switched to Century link and can't used it because they you telephone lines vs cable so am back to renting, boo. I get way better speed and have stopped having to reset everything so it has been worth the switch.
I'd just browse Amazon or NewEgg or whatever for a well rated one. Most routers are plug and play and easy to set up. DH bought our last one and never got around to installing it, so I handled it with no issues.
