I'm up to 868 so far. Getting started is so hard, but it's going pretty well so far! 

Who is writing? Who is excited? Let's post word counts throughout the day since we don't have a check in thread for Day 1.

I am starting right now!

This year should be easy since both my kids are at school.  Finally - I have been waiting nine years for this!  Yet having seven hours of free time a day actually seems to be making it harder to start.  At least today, lol.

When I was working 3 days/week and DD was in PreK every day, I had to go to a coffee shop or Panera or something on my days off  to actually make myself write. At night, I could sit in bed and write b/c DH was in the family room watching TV but during the day, when it was quiet and empty, I could NOT get myself going! So weird.

When I struggle to get going with my writing I try to get out of the house too.  I think not having as good internet, not having a mouse, and not having TV help to kick me in the butt.

I've passed 5000 words today, which is always my Day 1 goal.  This is ten consecutive years for me, so I'm really happy about it.  I'm at a write-in for the next hour a half, so we'll see how much of a buffer I can get tonight.  I'm still not exactly sure how all my plot points are going to connect, though.

For me, the 5-10k area is where I struggle. I'm past the beginning excitement, and have to figure out how to get the ball rolling with action. I'm hoping to get to 2500 today, I'm at 1250 now.

This describes it perfectly.  There's lots of things that could happen, but I'm not sure how to get there yet.  Later in the month it's easier because you already have a foundation, no matter how unstable.  And since I didn't plan as much as usual I feel like I have TOO many options at this point.

1250 is great! Almost at the daily goal already and there's still the whole evening to go.

I only finally started about 7:30 my time (EST), but I got 1730 words done for the day, so at least I made quota. It's been a slow start for me, probably because I'm not 100% sure where I want this story to go and how I want it to get there. Hopefully, it'll become clear to me within the next couple of days.
