We think DS had it twice. The first time was not so bad, but the second time was kind of worse. It's kind of a rite of passage for toddlers, lol. The main thing I remember is that a few months after the second time he had it, his toenails started to peel off. It was bizarre. Didn't seem to bother him. His teachers said they hadn't seen that before, but the doctor said it can happen. Just mentioning it so you don't freak out like I did.
Oh and for his bum, this was my favorite remedy. Take that Aveeno oatmeal stuff and add just enough water to it to make a thick paste. It will look like concrete. Drown his bum in it and put a diaper on while you let him "marinate" in it for maybe twenty min. Then rinse with warm water and apply diaper cream as usual. It will help significantly if you do it once or twice a day until he heals.
going to try to remember this if we have to deal with this in the future.

@daylily, Can you link the Aveeno oatmeal stuff you mean? That sounds like something we need to try. What I did last night was a fail, hahaha.
I have no signs of it yet, but my H says he has sores in his mouth.
He got more bumps over the course of today, but still feels pretty ok, so hopefully we’ll ride it out for a few more days and then be in the clear. Thanks, ladies!
