Hi! I'm new here. I've lurked on this board for a while and it seems some people do intros so I figured I would too. I've been on the boards for years (TK, TN, then came over with the mass exodus) and mainly post on H&F, MM, and the DC board.
I turned 32 last week and DH is 33. We will celebrate our 10 year anniversary later this year (we got married young!). We have always wanted children, but prioritized traveling, our graduate programs, and professional goals first. We had planned to start TCC this year, but I changed jobs and we held off to wait until I would be covered under FMLA. Then we bought a house (a 1920's bungalow) that we've been working with contractors this summer and fall to renovate and are under contract to sell our first home. Then I was asked to be MOH in two weddings next year and I am silly and thought I may want to wait even longer, until after the weddings, to start TCC and realized that is ridiculous. Anyway, one thing after another kept pushing back our plans to TCC. We decided to hold off until early next year.
Well, I had a health scare earlier this week and we realized how much we really do want a family and do not want to wait much longer. So here I am. Hi!
I've been charting (inconsistently) for a while and started (but never finished) reading TCOYF. I will probably have tons of questions so thanks in advance for answering them. 😊
First question: Would you order a bridesmaid dress two sizes too big in case you get pregnant before a wedding? I'm thinking it would be easier to take it in if I am not pregnant than to let it out if I am. I am MOH in two weddings next year (my sister's wedding in mid April and a BFFs in late June). I need to order a BM dress for my sister's wedding by tomorrow. I realize it is unlikely to get a BFP on your first couple cycles TCC, but if I did, I could be pregnant by April. Wishful thinking. 😊
hi there, I don't go here anymore but am going to be in my brother's wedding next year and struggled with this while TTC. I would say if you can afford it, order it in your regular size and if youy need to rush order a different size, do it. alterations, especially if you don't have friend or contact who could do it at a deep discount, are likely going to be pretty expensive. I would also hold off on ordering as long as possible, but this is one of those things where you will figure it out. Since you are MOH in both, it's also okay if your dress looks a little different from everyone else (assuming the brides are okay with it).

Welcome and good luck on your journey! Feel free to chime in with questions or just to chat.
Personally I’d order a bridesmaid dress in your regular size and cross that bridge when you get to it, but that’s me. I know is me way more sad and annoyed to need to pay to alter a dress that I bought hoping for a pregnancy if I wasn’t pregnant than I would be shelling out extra to rush order a new dress. But I generally try not to plan my life around the “what if” of babymaking because that just makes the roller coaster even harder to handle. I’m emotionally sensitive though.
Hi! I’m lurking here since we are going to start TTC #2 soon and we actually have pushed it a few months because of my BIL’s wedding in June. It is so hard to plan! But yeah, I would order the dress in your normal size and worry about alterations or whatever later if you get pregnant. I guess I’m superstitious and I feel like ordering up 2 sizes would jinx it. My SIL was in our wedding at 4 months pregnant and she had the dress taken out a little and honestly, you could barely tell she was pg. I also think that in case it does take a little while, it would be extra depressing to get that BM dress so big and not be pregnant.
