Has anyone bought something at Ulta using points and then needed to return it? I'm considering buying a new flat iron and paying for it entirely with points. BUT, if I end up not liking this one (like the last one) and need to take it back, I want to be able to get my points refunded to me.
I got burned doing that! I saved up all of my points until I had a $125 gift card and then bought a bad palette. Returned it and did not get the equivalent in points. I tried returning it during a busy time in the store and the sales associate had no idea what the hell was going on. I should have called and complained. I have found their costumer service to be okay on the phone so maybe call and verify first.
I bought a Beachwaver with my points and hated it. I returned it and got my points back. It cost more than my $125 in points, so I don't know how it works if what you're returning is only a partial of the points that you spent.
mortomo, this would be the same situation as yours, so thanks for sharing your experience. I just placed my order and am hoping this flat iron works out for me.

I hope the flat iron works out for you.
Also, I've noticed at my Ulta that not every associate knows how to process a return from an online purchase. The few times I've returned something it's taken more than one associate to figure it out!

You get your points back, it takes up to 48 hours for them to be added back to your balance. At least that’s what I was told and what my experience has been.

What did you hate about the Beachwaver?
I barely got a bend in my hair from it. My hair curls fairly easily, so I figured beachy waves shouldn't be too difficult. It went right back. For the money I expected better.
ETA: I do have long, thick hair, so someone with a different hair type might have better luck.
