I'm just over 10k words and I'm trying to transition from the beginning intro type stuff to the meat. I still have so much to write in my head, but I'm struggling to connect the dots. The upside is that 7 years ago, I hit my story's climax at like, 25k words and here I am at 10k and I've barely gotten into the good stuff. I could see this easily becoming a 100k word book. ....Yay?

I'm also very slow at getting to the action this year. I have more balls in the air since it's a sequel and less planning than usual and I'm struggling to balance everything. I have the same sort of "yay?" reaction as you. Having enough content for the 50k is great, but the fact that it will take who knows how long to write is not as pleasant.
I'm at 28.5k right now. The useable word count is much, much lower. :-\
I had the weird experience of starting NaNo in the middle of a trilogy this year, but I sort of missed the "blank page, anything could happen" energy that usually powers me through the first 10k. I'm still a little behind the goal at 18k, but at the same time I'm over 50k into the second book of this trilogy, so that feels pretty awesome! NaNo has really forced me to write when I wouldn't, so I'm happy!
