chalupa, Sorry about the horse. He is super cute! But I hope an even cuter and better horse comes along for you.
tiramisu, Omg what a nutter! I love that you went back into the bar after he left and had some laughs with the bartender.
This weekend went by way too quickly. DD had a riding lesson on Saturday, and we ran some errands. Yesterday we had dinner with my parents and brother. And I move two weeks from today and am starting to panic a little.

bullygirl979, Is the office going to be super cramped with two desks in there? If P isn't in there during the day when you would be, I'd try to figure out a way to share the office but with your own desk. Do you need room for file cabinets and such in addition to the desk where the office would be too cramped with both of you in there?
I just know that I'm always cold and basements tend to be cold, and I wouldn't want to work down there every day. Also, I'd want a window and sunlight on a daily basis. If those things wouldn't bother you, then I'd say go for the office basement.

turtle1120, yeah it would be really cramped in there if we put another desk in the office. He has a filing cabinet in there already, that he will clean out half for and let me use. So, if I had my desk upstairs, I wouldn't get more filing drawers and just use what he has. If I go in the basement, I'd likely get a bigger desk with file drawers.

doglove, I liked your post for getting the last laugh on your (former) apartment complex! tiramisu, what a weirdo. That's such a strange thing to ask. bullygirl979, I'd probably go for the spare bedroom, because lack of natural sunlight is like the #1 complaint I have about my cube at work. I don't need a lot of space, so I'd be good in a small area. But if you've got lots of files, it might be easier to get your own filing cabinet and have it with your desk in the basement, so you'd have ready access to it. They make lots of natural sunlight lamps now that are supposed to be pretty good!

So it sounds like you're really deciding between you going in the basement or P going in the basement? And I'm guessing you'll be spending significantly more time in the office than he will? I, personally, wouldn't want to be in the basement working daily. I work from home once a week and having a dedicated space really helps me with being more productive - I have a laptop and could work anywhere too but I'm not as productive working wherever. That could just be my own problem.
If P truly doesn't mind moving his office to the basement, then I'd let him. If he does - I don't even know. I just wouldn't want to be in the basement working every day. I need more sunlight and heat than most basements offer.

bullygirl979, How cramped would the guest room option be? Since you don't have guests too frequently I may be tempted to go with that option. Who will need more space - you or P? Maybe whoever needs less space moves into the guest room?
Well, it's all over! The judge called my letter well-written and pointed out that so often the severity of a DUI crash is dependent on fate/higher power/whatever. There was an interesting argument made by defense counsel about ethnicity impacting BAC. BUT...she was sentenced and then remanded to custody. I saw them put the handcuffs on her. She'll severe at least 45 real days in jail/prison and then go to a work furlough program and be ordered to intensive substance abuse treatment. So I basically got everything I asked for, though the jail sentence is slightly less than what I'd suggested. I will be preening all over the place that a judge called my letter well-written, on the record!
Then the weird part: the defense attorney came up to me outside the courtroom and tried to talk with be some more. He thinks he knows me from Juvenile Hall cases, which is entirely possible. But then a woman, who must be a family member of the offender's, was there too and asking me if I had health insurance and said "shouldn't they pay for that?" Bitch your sister's/cousin's/daughter's/friend's car insurance should've paid for everything. GTFOH with that. The DA double checked to see if they had any insurance info in the file, even though he's not really supposed to, and then walked me out after I expressed how weird it was that they were trying to talk to me. There was, of course, no insurance info in the file.
Ugh tiramisu. I thought is was very common knowledge that health insurance will not cover injuries in an auto accident, since that is to be covered by car insurance? I'm glad your letter was well received.
doglove, Yeah for being done with the move. I hate moving
bullygirl979, I would probably set up in the basement. If you have the opportunity to move around the house more I would do that and do the big work in your basement office.
I leave for vacation in less than 9 hours. I can not wait! H and I are meeting up with my family and I can't wait to celebrate. My Mom and Dad's anniversary, My Birthday, My Mom's birthday too. It's going to be so much fun.

My health insurance has been paying, but they're going to expect to be reimbursed once I get a settlement. So that was about $5,000 of the restitution ordered. This woman didn't seem to get that her sister's/cousin's/friend's car insurance actually should've been playing for everything with zero copays from me. With all of that taken into consideration, my restitution was probably still a low-ball amount.
tiramisu I hope the settlement covers all your out of pocket expenses! What a nightmare. Is she actually going to pay up, or do you think you'll have to take her back to court in a couple months to get wage garnishment?
chalupa I imagine I'll probably have to file for a lien to ever see any of the money. I've got a month and a half before she's even eligible to go to work furlough, so she won't be making money for a little bit. I need to review the info the probation officer sent me about collecting restitution so that I know what I need to do.
tiramisu out of curiosity is your insurance involved at all in helping you fight to get all of this completed?
They really haven't been involved in this because it's the criminal part. They tried numerous times to contact her to find out insurance information. They did search to see if they could find info any other way. At this point I think we can talk settlement as soon as I get results from the neuropsych testing and consult with the personal injury lawyer. My insurance stayed out of the criminal case though and probably would stay out of a civil case if I pursued one.
