I’m hosting thanksgiving. We’re up to 14 people and might get 4 more. I’ve never done thanksgiving for more than 5 people, and I have no clue how to cook that big of a turkey! My husband is also gone this weekend visiting his brother and I’ll only have a couple days when he gets back to get ready.
H decided to speak this weekend! It’s like his speech lesson Friday flipped a switch. He said his first ever 2 word phrase at speech Friday and said like 5-10 different ones this weekend. He also can count to 2, we never knew because he couldn’t say two until today!
A also learned to ride her bike without training wheels this weekend!
My H is away on business, so I'm trying to keep my patience. He was gone last week, and then home for Friday and left again on Saturday morning. B has been super out of sorts because of it and driving me crazy.
We're doing my family's Thanksgiving on Saturday because we always have a hard time getting everyone together on actual Thanksgiving and we're going to be away anyway. We're going to Barcelona next week - B has off from school the whole week, and my H was already going to be there for work and I didn't feel like doing the holiday circuit solo.
That sounds like a good weekend for both kids @lindy!Go H! B has not expressed in any interest in taking his training wheels off. I'm not sure if he knows they come off ...
We are doing a day trip up to FIL’s. I’m cooking most of the stuff here and then we are just piling everything in the car. Boys have all of next week off of school and DH is taking the week after thanksgiving off. I’m just hoping to power through a bunch of lingering house projects before December hits.

She never showed any interest until she started kindergarten and one of her friends rides her bike to school without training wheels. So she decided she had to be just like her lol. I wasn't going to push it, however it is kind of nice because she can ride it way faster without training wheels for some reason.

My kid can't even ride a bike WITH training wheels, so there's that.
We've got a multi-state road trip starting on Friday. Andrew has all of next week off for Thanksgiving, but DH works until late Wednesday night. So rather than just sitting around at home, we're going to go visit some people and have some fun. We'll eventually end up in Memphis for Thanksgiving, and DH will fly in that morning.
@lindy - you guys had a productive weekend! G isn't the most coordinated thing on the planet and still hasn't quite mastered WITH training wheels.
ktstorm - how exciting!! I wonder if Barcelona decorates for the holidays as early as the US. Hopefully you'll share a few pics when you get back!
Go Loco Coco!! Way to go!! That's an impressive loss.
We're bringing a couple sides and several pies/desserts to thanksgiving and all I want to do right now is bake and binge watch cheesy Hallmark movies. Working full time is cramping my style! Lol.
We are doing thanksgiving at our house but it's just MIL coming. I still am making the whole spread though, for "Tradition". I suggested a simpler meal and both my H and MIL were horrified. I also said maybe I'll get the 8-10lb turkey and my MIL was like " nooo that's way too small... 14-16 is a good size for leftovers". How much leftovers can three people and two little kids eat ?
I'm only doing one pie.
I'm undecided on work Friday, I might just come in to be alone lol
also I told my MIL maybe she should just relax and skip the rolls this year since it's just us but she said no, she has to make the rolls for tradition. She will show up with probably 50 rolls. We'll eat 1/4 of them, put the rest in the freezer and then throw them out in six months
I am traveling for work next week Monday and Tuesday, so it will make our weekend busy getting ready for guests. We aren't hosting, but my inlaws stay with us from Tuesday to Sunday. It's not my favorite. (Maybe I will get stuck in Dallas? ha)
BIL hosts Thanksgiving day, but the whole 5 days is filled with spending time wtih H's family so it gets long.

Lol my MIL does the exact same thing and we do the same thing. We’re not big roll people so they sit in the freezer and then get tossed.

So now I’m questioning how big a turkey to get! I was going to get 16-18 lbs for 14 people (2 are kids).

I would get a 20lb turkey if you hoped to have leftovers. If you don’t want leftovers then 16-18 should be good.

Excited to spend thanksgiving with rjamz for the second year! We are doing the parade and then dinner. Hoping my children don’t embarrass me in front of her family 😊

How fun! Watching the Thanksgiving parade is on my bucket list! Someday I will go, when my kids are reasonable human beings...
People say birds under 12 pounds don't taste the same as the big guys
My 40 is next thanksgiving so we are planning Macy day parade! Can't wait! Highlight of my childhood and big bucket list items to be checked off as a family - Santa window shopping skating g hot chocolate to name a few
UghGrace has 2 cavities and I feel so shitty about it!
Don’t! It happens. Daniel has a really bad gag reflex and can’t get his back teeth very well (or let us in to do them). He had caps on 5 teeth back in June, I felt bad initially but these are baby teeth, I’ll stress about the permanent ones.
We are switching H to a big bed next week! We need him to learn how to sleep in one before Christmas when we go to the ILs. He’s too big for the PnP so we don’t have any other options. I get to sit around today waiting for an ikea delivery with a bunch of his furniture. My dad is also making a conversion thing for his crib because I just can’t get rid of it.
Loco Coco B had two cavities at his last checkup too and I felt awful too, but I think some people are more prone to cavities. I had a bunch when I was a kid, (luckily none in recent years) and then there's my H who hasn't ever had a cavity.

My H is the same way. It makes me mad lol. He doesn’t floss and sucks at brushing and has no cavities. His dad is 70 and has never had one either. I hope my kids get his teeth and not mine!

So much of cavities is genetic, so try not to feel bad. Closer teeth are more likely to get cavities. Some people just get them, some viruses as a kid can cause them too.

We celebrated Thanksgiving this past weekend with my in laws. It was ok, no one got on my nerves which is good because lately my SIL and BIL seen to annoy me to no end. We are leaving Sunday to drive to Tampa to go to Busch Gardens on Monday. My dh gets a free ticket and half off 4 friends bc he is law enforcement. My parents live 3 hours from Tampa so my mom is meeting us there. Tuesday we will head back to my parents and my sister, BIL, niece and nephew are coming down for the week. I can't wait. My family has not met baby Pearl yet (except my parents).
There is some family drama though. My dad's mom has basically decided to not be around my mom. Also my dad's sister has created some drama with my mom. Long story but it's almost as if they have shunned my mom from the family and wrongfully so. So I don't plan on seeing them and that's for their own good because if I see them we will have words.
Ugh @lindy that is awful! Unfortunately, I’ve heard reallllly bad things about IKEA delivery.
I know! We should have just gone to the store, but they were doing free delivery a few weeks ago and the closest store is over an hour away. Never again!

I would’ve done that too. Lol. IKEA with kids is such a pain in the ass. It’s always so crowded!
Well I finally got an answer. The delivery company didn't even have a truck to deliver with today! Why did they call me 3 times to tell me my delivery time? They rescheduled for next week, and I have a phone number for the delivery company and will be calling them the morning of making sure they are coming so I don't have to sit around all day again.
