Anyone else cleaning out their closet/sick of their current clothing? Or anyone very happy with their closet and wanting to share their secrets. Feel free to answer these questions.
Are you happy with your closet?
What are you keeping/getting rid of?
What are your typical types of outfits for your lifestyle?
Are you focusing on certain colors/materials/brands in your closet?

Are you happy with your closet?
I think I am now the happiest I have ever been with my closet. I love fashion and clothing and at the old age of 36 I no longer really struggle getting dressed.
What are you keeping/getting rid of?
Post 2 kids I have been in the process of cleaning out my closet and getting rid of the following:
- poor fit/quality - unflattering - doesn't fit my new aesthetic (I realize I am really picky about prints and got rid of so many items with prints that I know I will never wear - my mom used to call the dresses I wore tablecloths) - not practical
I have donated and sold a large amount of clothing/accessories and I also have probably bought too much in the process. I will say it is much easier to get ready with a closet with items that fit. I have too many items that need to get altered so I need to get that addressed now so I can actually wear those items.
I still need to cull through my closet and I would like to make a visual pinterest board and/or spreadsheet of what I own so I don't rebuy the same things over and over again.
What are your typical types of outfits for your lifestyle?
I have about 4 or so key focus areas (I work from home so I have put away for now almost all of my "work clothing")
-Athleisure -Typical outfit casual - Denim (I have upped my denim game), top, booties and jacket -Typical outfit step up from casual - Coated denim (ordered some faux leather pants to try as well) with cute top, booties and leather jacket -Dressier outfits - very infrequent right now but I am making an effort to go out more to wear more of my fun clothing
Are you focusing on certain colors/materials/brands in your closet?
Outside of my athleisure I have been focusing on a pretty monochromatic look with mostly black/grey/white/denim and a little color. My friends used to tease me as I was frequently in all black (I live in the South and folks love color) but the older I get the less I care about what other people think.
I have been much more selective about material and try to focus on materials like cashmere/wool/silk/cotton/linen. Ideally washable if possible.
I have been buying higher end contemporary brands but mostly secondhand. I really don't purchase fast fashion at all and the quality has taken a real nose dive at the price points I used to purchase at retail so this means less mall shopping which is great as I don't have the time anyway.
Are you happy with your closet? If I could pick one thing about my house that I absolutely loathe, it is lack of closet space. My husband and I share a miniscule closet in our master bath and it's beyond ridiculous. I hate putting clothes away because I never have any place to put them, so they just... sit... in baskets.
What are you keeping/getting rid of? I would like to force myself to get rid of some sweatshirts this year. I have a ton and for some reason never purge them, but there are ones that I never wear that could totally go. Like the Old Navy fleece - no sentimental attachment there and it's not even a good color or flattering - that needs to go!
What are your typical types of outfits for your lifestyle? I'm the worst ever to answer this. I work from home in PJ pants and T-shirts, and when I go out it's to train my horses, so breeches and boots.
Are you focusing on certain colors/materials/brands in your closet? Is comfort a material?

I'm ok with my closet. I'm a very classic, conservative dresser. My personal style could be described as business casual. Most of my time is spent working and I always wear pretty much the same thing so I don't waste time thinking about my wardrobe. I generally stay away from things that might look silly or frivolous. I avoid wearing anything that looks like a child would wear it, or colors and patterns that men don't wear. My off hours may include tee shirts and sneakers. Socially I will wear something a bit more feminine, such as heels and halters (summer) or cold-shoulder cowl sweaters (this time of year), or a simple sheath dress with pumps.
Nope nope nope. I live in a cycle of "freshen things up, go too long before getting clothes again, things get dire, then repeat cycle." I'm currently in the "dire" part of the cycle, mainly re: work clothes.
What are you keeping/getting rid of?
I'm getting rid of work clothes that are in poor condition -- pants where the knees have gotten a bit worn, bally cardigans, etc.
What are your typical types of outfits for your lifestyle?
My main fashion focus is work. My workstyle tends to be trousers and cardigans, with occasional dresses or skirts.
Are you focusing on certain colors/materials/brands in your closet?
J Crew and J Crew Factory fit me very well and fit me consistently. I do almost all of my shopping online except for *maybe* a yearly mall trip.
