We finally got our Home Depot quote for the flooring, so now there is some hope that we'll get our basement done before the Christmas holidays! Wohoo!
We had parent-teacher conference last night for DS. He is doing well. The teacher did agree that she'll get the speech therapist to check his speech. DS had a pretty obvious lisp but didn't qualify for services when we looked into it about a year ago as he was deemed too young. We paid OOP for 6 months for speech therapy, and the therapist discharged him and asked us just to monitor it. Now I think he still has a minor lisp, but DH is convinced that I'm just being paranoid. So it was good that his teacher agreed that his speech can be a bit unclear sometimes and will get the speech therapist to look into it.
I'm back from my second resort trip, and it was awesome!!! So we've officially chosen a location and just need to nail down the details. It's such a huge weight to have this checked off and taken care of.

PDQ
My coworker is back from getting her kids. (Quick backstory in case you missed it: Dad (XH) didn’t return the kids (teenagers) from a week-long visit back in July, the court declared the kids kidnapped in August, and CPS (out of state) was able to take custody of the kids on 11/6.) She has been home a week, but was busy getting the kids enrolled in school, starting counseling, going to the doctor and dentist, getting school clothes and supplies, etc. The kids have been back in school a few days now and it is already a very positive experience.
The dad told the kids a major lie that he had talked to their mom and she didn’t want them back, that she said it would be better for them to live with their dad. So it was a difficult reunion for my coworker, because the kids had been lied to for 4 months. Plus the dad is into acting and is manipulative, so he can be pretty believable. But my coworker said that the kids are opening up to her and everything is starting to get back closer to normal. I am so glad to see her relieved and happy.
Lots going on with Charlotte. She picked up a new dx of Auditory Processing Disorder this week. So will look into services for that. I've always wondered... I also had a phone consult with a neuropsych out of state who works with complex kids, and he reviewed the eval we had done a year ago and said based on that report, the background info provided, and the conversation with me about my concerns, he would be very concerned about dyslexia. So I have to figure out what to do about that.
Soooo close to settling on the car accident. Hopefully before Christmas.
Oh and I forgot to mention I had a 1:1 with my new boss. I got the definite impression he wants to shove me in a corner and not hear from me for 6-9 months while his big project rolls out. I did ask for guidance on 2 things. One he is putting me off, and the other he said I can't do it the way I want (to use a new software program I am learning), and I literally had to beg him to look at it before telling me I can't use it. He did and he liked it. SMDH. Change is bad.
So after all of my stomach issues, everything seems almost normal. This morning I get a call from my doctor that my blood work came back from my physical and my protein is high. The nurse says it's probably nothing and related to the fact they had a hard time drawing blood, but I am freaking out and spiraling on Google which is a mistake. Can I just have some peace.
Heading for what I hope are the last X-rays for DD. And a detailed convo about whether or not DD can play in the tournament this weekend. It’s one match - not three matches - so playing to 25 once is better than 25-25-15 .... but it still makes me nervous.
We still have no working dishwasher. Well, we technically have a working dishwasher, but the space for it is too small, so attempting to open and close the door will break it. The contractor isn't calling us back and DH is dragging his feet on getting it rectified but doesn't want me to run with it. So... yeah.

Asshole is still be a douche. When I approached him about what offer he wanted he picked one and said he would like to reverse the order of payments to get more money in the beginning. When I asked him why he said because there have been times when March rolled around and I didn't have money to pay him. I came unglued and said do not mistake you running out of commission to be paid for me running out of money because they are not the same thing. He'll be signing a contract soon that also includes a non-compete. He's not thrilled because my "dad wouldn't do that." Whatever.
I've been back on adderall for only a week and can already tell a difference in my quality of life.
I don't know who I have told what, so if I am repeating myself I apologize.
DS had an OT eval last week, and they are recommending treatment. So he will be in OT and PT. It is every other week, and I wanted them on opposite weeks, but they couldn't do it that way. So I will have it on the same week. Its at 3, which they keep gloating is a coveted after school appointment, but it's not really since I have to to pick him up at 2:40 to make the appointment, and school doesn't get out until 3:15. So he has to miss school, and I am sure my boss is tired of me leaving at 2 all the time, and now that will be more often. DH is taking him finally this Tuesday because he is off work, but I have done the other 5 appointments (10 weeks), plus the ortho appointment. And I have an audiology appointment coming up for him too.
My day with my friend in the city was exhausting, but really fun. Unfortunately we both had terrible cab drivers at the end of the day (him to the airport and me to train station). His was yelling out racial slurs out the window which was scary for him (he isn't white), and my cab driver insinuated that I am a slut with lots of boyfriends and cheating on my husband because I made the mistake of saying I went sightseeing with a friend. So that was fun. He reported his incident to Uber. I just was in a regular cab, but just reminded I guess of how skeevy some men can be. Thanks for the reminder super skeevy dude.
Oh and about a month ago, I went to a meeting and grabbed a snack I was going to eat in the car in the parking garage before I drove back (an hour drive). And the guy in the car 2 spaces down no car in between kept staring at me, so I had to leave instead of spending 5 minutes because he was skeevy.
DD was released to play! Cue nerves. At least all three kids have activities at the same time this weekend (read: chaos but i don’t have to be up at 6am for a change).
I'm waiting to see if I'm part of a settlement that my former company entered into with the DOL for underpaying women.
Today, a second UPS tracking number was created, triggering an alert from UPS that I will be receiving a package tomorrow!! WOOOO!! Until...
...2 hours later, when the delivery status was changed to unknown, just like the last tracking number... DAMMIT!! So now I don't know when/if it's coming... sigh...
Well, 2.5 months after driving my new car off the lot, the dealership finally got the loan paperwork straight and I have an account number and everything. The last email I have from them was "well, we submitted it again and you should be fine now"; no follow up to make sure we actually were or anything. No free oil change certificates. Nothing. SOOOOOO not impressed, and seriously considering leaving bad reviews on every internet rating site I can find. Jerks. They just never followed through or followed up on anything without me calling to press for updates.
DS's speech therapy ran out in October, but he's continuing to improve, and people who haven't seen him (nurse at the audiology clinic, for example) comment on how much clearer his speech is.

Tuesday and yesterday was the annual the "bid" at work for work unit and shift, all based on seniority. I didn't have to bid this year because I'm in the middle of a two year position, but 2 of the 4 spots in my office were open until the next bid which is being changed this year and will only run through September. Because they were filling vacancies in my office for two that left part way through their 2 year bid, people didn't understand how they were being filled, so many people that could have chosen my office didn't. So I'm stuck with the chatty Cathy for another 9 months on day shift, but at least she tries to work hard. The new guy on swing shift is a wild card. I've worked with him off and on for about 6 years when I fill in at other work units. He's not the most motivated person but does work and has argued with me in the past about how things should be done. But now that he's coming into my territory, I'm hoping that he'll follow my lead without arguing with me. Ultimately, I'm optimistic because both new people are not slugs or assholes like I've had to deal with for the last 3 years.
My mom FINALLY got a job! The pay isn't great but with the spousal support she's getting from my dad she should be comfortable. It is an admin at the county office which I'm excited about because she'll get a pension and since she's 58 with no retirement I think she'll be able to build a decent retirement in the next ~15 years she has to work. As you all advised, she got the job because of one of my friends who is an attorney for the County.
It should not be this difficult for a college educated person to be able to land a decent job.
SOOOOOO not impressed, and seriously considering leaving bad reviews on every internet rating site I can find.
I highly recommend this. I bought a new (to me) Expedition from a dealership. We checked and double-checked with the sales guy that it hadn't been in an accident. He assured us repeatedly that it hadn't been. All was good. About a month after getting it home I start to have a leaky rear window and air noise around the driver side door, which the repair guy said was because it was out of alignment due to it being in an accident. Looks it up in his computer to see if their shop had done the repairs. Sure enough. It was in his system and the entire left side had been side-swiped and it was almost totaled. The kicker? THE MAINTENANCE SHOP WAS THE DEALERSHIP MAINTENANCE SHOP. The dealership, where I had bought the car, had also done the repairs.
OMFG, I was LIVID. I contacted the sales guy over the phone and in person and was told "sorry, not sorry. nothing we can do. not our problem." So I got online and blasted them on every review site I could find. I was actually googling to find more review sites that I could post on I was so mad. Then I get a call from them saying they saw my review on whatever site and said they could give me $600 (half of the repair cost) to take it down. I said sure. Got my check. Edited my post to say that they gave me $600 toward the repair to take my review down to rectify the situation. No way I was taking it down after how shitty they were.
When I helped my mom buy her car they showed her one with a clean car fax. But because Exh had referred us, the head guy came out and told us not to buy it as it had been in an accident. Seems like the system is broken....
We ordered our patio furniture! We already have a dining table and 6 chairs that has been in storage since 2012 when we moved, lived with my parents for a year and then moved it to our shed bc we had no outdoor space set up. As I mentioned in other posts H has been working hard on the patio laying brick by brick by brick...finally we hired someone to lay the rest and it took a crew 3 days. It would have taken him months to finish by himself. I'm so glad to have him back!
We were both worried about how much money we would be out for a sectional but I can't believe the deal we found.
Here is what will go beneath the pergola goo.gl/images/htNkjh . I saw this set at a campground, fell in love and called them to see where they got it...Amazon believe it or not. We got clips and a waterproof cover all for just over 900!
