My phone is on it's last leg and I really want the iPhone X but I'm terrified because it is glass and I drop my phone ALL THE TIME. I thought about just getting the 8 Plus, but I think it's glass too? If you have one or the other, give me your reviews.

My husband got the 8 because he hasn’t heard great things about the facial recognition. I’m probably getting an 8 too. The 8 Plus is too big for me, but the 8 seems great.
I have the X. I love love love it. The facial recognition is so smooth and not at all awkward. I envisioned it being really clumsy, but it detects me and unlocks well before the phone is up in my face. Works with glasses and sunglasses, a hat, ponytail, etc. As for the glass, I got a great case from Case-Mate that is "military grade" (but it has glitter and is pretty, lol), and I've dropped it (once pretty hard, face-down on tile from standing) with no issues. It's all about the case.

I have the 8. Someone called it a 7s and I think that’s an accurate description. I upgraded from the 5s so it’s light years better but there’s nothing revolutionary about the 8 in my opinion.

I have the 8 plus. It's not all glass. If it is, it survived me dropping it twice yesterday onto either tile or concrete. I do have a cheap case on it and a glass protector.

This.
Love my X. The facial recognition is a lot less "gimmicky" than I thought it was going to be - it's really slick, actually.
The lack of home button on the X is everything. It is so much easier to use and way more natural to just swipe the apps. I always bent my thumb at a funny level to hit the home button when using it with one hand, so the swiping is so much more comfortable. The only time that I’ve had trouble with the Face recognition was in the dark.

I’ve found that if your screen brightness is up enough, it’ll work in the dark.
I did the facial scans with no glasses on. However, I’m wearing glasses right now and it had no problem when I unlocked a few minutes ago.
The swiping does take a bit to get used to, but two? weeks in and I don’t even think about the home button anymore.

with the facial recognition on the X - could you also have another way to open it - with a 6 digit code or whatever? or could it recognize more than one face?

Yeah it prompts for a code if it can't detect your face. I think you can shut it off altogether, too.

The x is pretty amazing. I have a friend who did the 8 and instantly regretted it when she saw my H’s X. I would personally do the 8 for a stellar deal, if at full retail, go X all the way.
I have an 8. I wanted the X but my phone died and it wasnt available and I couldn’t wait. I was in a 6s before and really notice very little difference. Slightly better quality screen resolution and pics. It’s battery life is better as well. I got insurance from where I got the phone (through Verizon) that covers the back glass as well as the front.
I would go for the X ...I’m happy with the 8, but really it seems no different than my 6s.
I love the cameras on the 7 and 8 plus, but that’s just too big of a phone for me.

ETA: This case
My iPhone X will arrive next week and I'm trying to decide on a case. Do the buttons still work well with the Case-Mate? I have a Case-Mate on my current phone and I love how well it protects my phone, but I have to push the buttons really hard to get them to work.

I have the 8 plus. I like it except that it’s too big for me to comfortably use with one hand. I’ve dropped it on the floor a few times and the otter box protected it, but then I dropped it on pavement and it shattered. With AppleCare it only cost the $30 deductible to have the screen fixed.
