Fire 8?

Anyone see my post on MM about tablets? The kids want one but we've been holding off b/c I don't want them dependent on electronics/don't want to fight screen time wars all the time. I was thinking if we got one, a family iPad was the route to go, but they are SOOOOO expensive. Maybe trying the Amazon Fire 8...but not sure. They are on a Black Friday sale now. If anyone has thoughts let me know. I'm not sure whether to get anything at all, whether to go for the Fires, and if I do, whether to get one to share or get two. They are two for $170 right now or one for 90. Ugh. I don't know.

With everything you’ve said I’d go with the two fires. Especially if they have a 2 year warranty. They won’t know what they are missing with the iPad. Plus 1 device for four kids - I think you would be dealing with a lot of squabbling.

Definitely get the two Fires. The parental controls on Kindles are great. I give the kids a certain amount of time and when it’s done then the Kindle shuts off...the Kindle is the “bad guy,” not me.

Get the 2 fires. Mine don't get screen time regularly, but they are invaluable at the times when I need them.

ETA: I would even say if you can get a super deal on older versions of the kindles, go that route.  If they are only using it to play on, they won't need the latest and greatest.
