HoneySpider Ugh how annoying! I did a lot at Walgreens years ago and always had that problem. When we got a CVS in town was about the time I stopped doing it. CVS always seemed to have better deals tho.
amaranthtravelbug If ya'll want any specifics let me know. I'm always up to talk about couponing! Lol.
I have been into the shopyour.way program through kmart./sears. They have an app called WinIt that you can play sweepstakes on and earn reward points to use as cash. I play the games and stack my winnings with coupons to get the best bang for my buck.
So like yesterday I ordered socks online for in store pickup.
3 packs of women's crew socks @ 6.99 each = 20.97 used a $10 off $20 apparel coupon used all my reward points that I had won on the app
ended up paying $0.36 out of pocket for 18 pairs of socks
I also use $10 off $10 coupons to JcP
So I got one on Black Friday.
bought 4 pillows @ 2.99 each = 11.96 Used a 10 off 10 coupons
out of pocket it was $2.14
Usually I just use these coupons to buy clothes for my girls. We are just in good shape right now and it's so nice to use them as a donation for a demographic I think gets overlooked locally. Usually my mom, grandma and I do a couple Angel Tree kids but this year we are focusing on the seniors.
I caught my first baby this morning. Doctor got there once the baby was out and crying. It's been 3 hours and I'm just now getting over my adrenaline rush.
Me and the charge nurse were leaving like, "I need a drink!" But no drinks for me.

((Hugs)) wineandcheese. Hope your week turns around.
pooh8402- I can’t even imagine the adrenaline rush.
estrellita- thinking of you! Hope you and baby girl are doing ok.
My morning started with being projectile vomited on by C. I got him up, he gulped down a lot of water (unusual), and then started coughing/vomiting. Not sure if it was because he drank too fast and it went down the wrong tube or if he’s fighting something/has the flu. Hasn’t happened again but he literally just kept vomiting and drenched us both.
Finally got L’s prescriptions taken care of. We are doing home delivery because it’s less money. Even so, the two inhalers will cost $110 every 3 months. Speaking of, pooh8402, any tips for giving L his inhaler? He is fighting it and I don’t know if he’s getting as much as he should. Also, I am under the impression that it pretty much stays in the spacer and is drawn out when he breathes. It doesn’t leak out when we have to put the mask on multiple times per puff, right? I am assuming no since the RT recommended doing the puff before putting the mask on his face.
luv2rn4fun thanks! No update here really, just a very slow process. My doctor has back to back surgeries today so she had another doctor come in to meet me just in case but with the way things are going, she'll probably be done before baby is even close!

Oh I wish I could help you, but I know very little about the actual administration of asthma meds, especially with little kids. That was always the respiratory therapists' job. I would ask one the nurses at his pedi's office. E has a nebulizer that we were given when he had RSV, but he never needed it.

Thanks! We have a nebulizer too and have the albuterol for it if we need to use it (and had been only using that until discharged from the hospital) but he fights that too 🙁. I thought the inhaler would be better since I would only have to fight for a couple minutes vs 10-15 min. But it seems like it takes about the same time when I have to give both the albuterol and controller inhalers (so 4 puffs total). I don’t think I can do the controller med in nebulizer form either but who knows.

Sorry it’s going so slow estrellita. My induction was the same way so I totally get it. I basically made zero progress over 30 hours before C started having issues so we ended up with a c-section.
pooh8402 That's insane!!! I know when they thought I was going to deliver too quickly without the doctor, they called in the hospitalist to be on standby. Wow! That is amazing!!!
pooh8402 Congratulations! I'm sure that must have been exciting! Maybe nerve wracking, too? I know a few people who had rapid 2nd or 3rd deliveries and didn't make it to the hospital and their husbands stepped in. Those stories always floor me. At least you're totally trained

Ugh, hopefully it doesn't end that way! I'm on magnesium for my blood pressure so that isn't helping. I'm not having many contractions either. So I'm thinking they'll probably start me on something else this afternoon. Cervix just isn't ready yet (last check this morning was 1, still really high up, makes for a NOT FUN check, lol). Hopefully tonight or tomorrow things will pick up! I'm just bored and tired and feeling crappy!

Can they unhook everything so you can walk around? I feel like your body will have a hard time making progress without movement. Maybe a little walk (even with a rolling IV?) would help. Even if it doesn't help progress, you'd probably be less stir crazy.

Rooting for you and baby!
With the BP issues they don't want me walking around much, plus my legs are a bit wobbly which apparently can be a side affect of the magnesium. I just keep trying to shift positions, sit in a chair, and get up to go to the bathroom as much as I can. I just want things to get moving! At this rate we'll be here till next week, lol.

Totally get it. When I was on blood pressure med to stop early labor with M, I was nearly passing out constantly. I needed help even getting to the bathroom. Not fun.

Oh yeah that doesn't sound fun! Luckily it hasn't been that bad but I've been off and on sick, shaky, exhausted, and weak feeling. I'm happy though because they just put an extra mattress on my bed and it feels soooo much better now!

Believe it or not, there's a lot of movement that can be done in the bed to help labor progress. If her BP is bad enough that she's on magnesium, there's no way they want her walking except to the bathroom and back (and actually, all of our magnesium patients have foley catheters since we need strict I and Os). Huge fall and seizure risk.
Hope today is the day, estrellita (if it hasn't happened already)!
Today is my certification exam, and I am ridiculously nervous. Ugghhh. At least in five hours from now it's all over (at least until February, when I get my results and may need to start studying again)!

It hasn't, lol. Making progress though so I'm hoping today too. They'll check me again in a couple hours and might start pitocin then. So I'm just resting/sleeping as much as I can right now!
My computer sounds horrible. The hard drive crashed once and DH had to replace it. We can't decide if it's the hard drive making terrible noises or the fan going out this time. Either way, I really don't want to buy a new one. DH isn't sure it would be worth fixing again.
DH has an interview for a local position on Tuesday. Woot!
DS was vomiting this AM but is fine now. He is on antibiotics and I am hoping that was the cause as opposed to a stomach bug.
luv2rn4fun I am a pulm nurse so I may be able to help. You shoukd do the puff with the mast on your son's face as some wikl be lost to the environment/atmosphere otherwise. Have your son breath in and out 6 times, wait 30-60 seconds and do the second puff with 6 breaths. After the controller medication be sure to wash his face and have him eat/drink something to prevent a rash and thrush. This does not need to be done with albuterol.
In terms of helping him with fighting it: you can try letting him play with it without the inhaler attached to get him used to it, show him it being done on a stuffed animal and even you, allow him to do a special activity while using it ie screen time or a very special engaging toy. It is best for him to be calm while it is taken as screaming does limit the amount of medication that is taken in with each breath. It does take time and adjustment to get to a place where he tolerates it though.
Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any more questions.
Thank you melsamoony! He will happily play with it but fights it with a vengeance once I go near his face. I held him this morning and sang and bounced and that helped. I hope he eventually just gets used to this...if not I will ask the doctor to switch to a nebulizer treatment instead of the inhaler (takes longer but it think he will tolerate it a little better).
