My toddler (1.5 yrs) caught some stomach bug.
I've been using pre-folds and covers, because they're holding up soooo much better against the blowouts than pockets and fst, or disposables.
I use the jelly-roll fold, and it's ok. It definitely keeps things from coming out the back (I'm so sorry, I know this is gross), but, since she's sick, now we're having leaks around the legs.

I could never get good at jelly roll. Probably used Angel Wing or Reverse Angel Wing the most. Sometimes Bikini Twist. It's quick and is nice if you have just gone up a size and have too much rise in the prefold.
Jelly roll, angel wing, and trifold we're the only prefold folds I ever used/learned. Pip often has soft/runny poop and I gave up long ago trying to keep the poop off of the cover. As long as the cover contained it, I called it a win.
She is better now. Luckily it was 48 hour bug. It came out of nowhere. The jelly roll fold sufficed, but yeah, it definitely didn't keep things off of the cover, haha!
If you didn't use prefolds, what was your go to solution for sickness poops?
When I wasn't using prefolds I was using Best Bottoms/pockets until I fell in love with flats. Flats are about the same poop containment wise as prefolds.
Pip has "tummy bug" poop for his normal poop so you would think I'd be an expert on poop containment but I gave up on that idea long ago. Flat/prefold stuffed pockets work pretty well. It's like the liquid stuff soaks through the lining and leaves the solid bits behind, which has been helpful sometimes in reducing the amount available for blowouts - if that makes sense. I've never tried fleece liners so I don't know if they would provide the same results. You do have to be cognizant of where the pocket opening is though. For example, Applecheeks puts the opening right in the poop zone while LilyBeeBums puts the pocket opening in the pee zone.
