Can I share? We had a great time. Lots of yummy food, tons of playgrounds for the kids, and so much walking. The kids did really great in the churches and museums we went to, and loved the fountain show.
It was 7.5 hours over, and 9 hrs coming back. We left at bedtime going over and after they served dinner, I convinced both kids to put their heads on my lap and they both slept for 4ish hours. When they were awake they were enthralled with the movies on the seatback, so that helped a lot. There was barely any line at customs/immigration in Spain, and we didn't check any bags so that helped a lot. I sent our checked bag with my H the week before.
Coming back was a little more wiggly since they were awake the whole time. The thrill of unlimited screen time, lots of snacks, apple juice from the beverage cart, and getting up to use the teeny tiny airline potties surprisingly kept them entertained. In both directions we were in the middle row, and I sat in the middle between the boys which kept their bickering to a minimum. I think the hardest part was waiting in the customs and immigration lines in the US on the way back. I ended up bribing B with money to be quiet and gave them both lollipops. Plus, my H was with us at that point so he could help.
Wow! What an awesome trip! And you are seriously brave traveling that far with both by yourself! I’m glad it went well. Was your H just there for work, and you tagged along? Both boys are getting so big!
