We will probably put the tree up sometime this week. I made chocolates yesterday, and will bake cookies today, and do tarts maybe next weekend. I haven’t even started shopping yet, and it’s causing me some anxiety, hopefully will get a start on Friday.
We got our tree last weekend and decorated it BUT DH knocked it over Friday night trying to fix the train underneath it. So I need to fix the decorations this morning. The tree skirt is dry now. lol
Baking sugar cookies with the boys today. We have some shopping done. We started Layaway at Walmart with a Switch for the boys. Picking that up Friday after DH gets his PTO payout. We have also ordered some other gifts as well that are in various shipping stats. Still lots of shopping to do but big stuff is done thankfully.
Wrapping needs to start happening soon.
I need to do Christmas cards ASAP too. I got my first 2 cards yesterday...eeekkk. I feel like time is flying by.

We are all decorated, did santa pics, ordered cards, and I'm almost done shopping (will need to get something for dh's siblings, but they make elfster lists and don't have stuff added yet).
I need to meal plan for hosting Christmas day brunch.
I will also need to bake a ton of cookies, do a gingerbread house with the kids (usually have our friends over to do this), do all the wrapping, and majorly clean, but that is all being put off till at least next weekend to even consider.
Oh, I have sooooooo much to do! It's always tough b/c both of our families do Christmas big and DH is always working like crazy right into early December.
We got the trees today, so that is GREAT. I am really hoping to get them up this week. We have a huge one in the great room and a little natural one in the dining area.
This week St. Nick comes on the night of the 5th.
Friday is the preschool family Christmas party in the evening. On Saturday, 2 of the girls, my MIL and I are going to the Nutcracker. Sunday is DD2 and DS's combined family birthday party! They turn 7 and 5. So we have to wrap those gifts, clean, figure out food, etc.
I still have to finish shopping and I have TONS of wrapping to do. I usually do it all at the last minute but am trying, trying to do better this year!
We usually also do cookies last-minute. Maybe the weekend of the 16th/17th we could do some. that would be early for us.
Plus I have a million general house-organizing projects I wanted to get done before Christmas, but not sure if those will happen!
We're in pretty good shape after this weekend, actually: I "think" I'm done shopping (just need to get a couple more easy stocking stuffers), tree and all other decor is up, cards are filled out, just need to do up the envlopes and mail (but we only send out 4 cards, so NBD there).
I always ALWAYS do Christmas baking (which I have yet to do), but we're not hosting this year, probably will have virtually no use for full platters of goodies, and always end up with tons of stuff leftover in the freezer, so I'm thinking of doing a minimalist version this year and just making a couple of things. We'll see...
Holy #$@# auroraloo . But, no matter what you do it will be fun to have a crazy Christmas in the new house!
One move down. Mostly. H is going back tomorrow to bring the last of the thigns to the temporary house, and then we close on thursday. I'm making an Amazon list thaat I will just hit "order" on on the 20th so everything is delivered on the 22nd. MIL will wrap and BOOM. done.
auroraloo, you seem so calm or are you actually at a 10 for stress level.
I'm coming down from a solid 42 on a 1-10 stress scale. I am the tech director for my school's theatre department (and we're an art school, expectations are high) and our fall play was Fri/Sat. I am strep throat on top of a WICKED cold. My body is beyond sore, and I cannot take any time off work because of observations, conferences, certification meetings, professional development, and needing my time for two closings and two home walkthroughs on the new build. My MIL, FIL, SIL, BIL, Neice, and Nephew are coming for Christmas and to help move on the 22nd, and my mom and BFF are coming to stay that day too.
*note to self, unpack linens ASAP*
My daughter's last day at her current daycare, where she has been her entire life of daycare is December 19th, I can't come up with a suitable gift, I need good gifts for the 4 neighbors we are going to miss, and I have 3 days of sub plans to write.
auroraloo you’re rocking this. I cannot even. The idea of moving makes me want to die. So much work. 3 bedrooms and 4 kids for life baby, cannot handle the stress. Maybe in 10 years when they are actually helpful humans instead of miniature tornados.

Dude. We hired movers. I wasn’t even home today. I left work and when I came home my house was empty.
Pull out some holiday declarations - we only have the advent calendars out. Most are made of wood and beautiful so are decorations as well but I haven’t managed to get anything else out.
This weekend bake cheesecakes upwards of 70 for those who made my list this year - deliver on Monday.
Gingerbread house decorating this Saturday for the kids.
Get jewelry together for DH’s holiday party this Sunday night. Also need to get some spectacular ornaments for an exchange.
End of next week bake 6 dozen sugar cookies, make icings, gather all sprinkles, edible glitter and pens for kids cookie decorating party on that Sunday.
Make granola that will go in jars to go along with gift certificates for all the teachers. Deliver a few days before Xmas.
Weekend before Xmas in laws fly in and we get the tree with them. Before then - make menus for about 5 days of having guests.
Buy lots of wine, especially for the week when the in laws are here. Christmas Eve everyone is staying at our house - my parents, in laws, aunts cousins....

Unfortunately we are done with everything. Reese's blood work came back a few weeks ago "off" so we are in the midst of wait and see. Worst case scenario we will be in the hospital during Christmas so we prepped everything.

Oh I’m so sorry to hear this. I’m thinking of you and Reese. Fingers crossed.
