One week until Christmas!
E slept through the night last night . I woke up at 5:30 thinking she would wake up at any time, but she didn't get up until her usual 7. She's getting pretty fun right now - she can crawl, although she's still pretty unsteady and can't go far or fast yet. She seems happier now that she's getting the hang of it- there was a lot of whining there for awhile.
How fun, thoseareradishes! While I don't want to speed up time, I really can't wait for S to start being able to sit up on his own or crawl around.
I'm basically a single parent right now because of DH work schedule. It is EXHAUSTING. It has been only 2 weeks so far and I want to die. H leave s before dawn and gets home between 8-11:30 pm. 7 days a week. I feel awful for him, and he is doing physical, outdoor work that whole time. So I am doing everything with and for the baby and the home entirely alone. I don't know how single parents do it, or military spouses, etc.
On the plus side (for me), S and I are spending so much time together and he is so fun. He is getting more attached to me, which makes me feel special, but I am nervous he is forgetting his dad. He is trying SO hard to sit up on his own and blow raspberries. He has a cough right now that has made him lose his "voice" which makes it even funnier when he is testing out his "yell" and even sadder when he cries.
We have been dealing with a never ending cycle of illness over here. I really hope it's almost over. Today is DS' 18 month shots and I am on the fence about getting a flu shot (for me, not him, he will get one). I know they will ask and I'm finally feeling better and every time I get a flu shot I end up knocked down with the flu within a couple days. I really can't afford to be sick, I have DHs family arriving in Friday for an extended visit and all the rest of the craziness that comes with Christmas.
Also have to take our kitty to the vet today because he also is sick, not eating and listless. We're really worried about him.
I went back to work today and lived to tell about it. I had 1 kid puke everywhere, 2 go home with lice, and one home with scabies...so basically welcome back lol. Dh said he and j had a good day even though j had a major poosplosion.
King26 today was my first day back as well. It went fine but my mom took it upon herself to give C a new nap schedule and of course he was incredibly fussy this evening and passed out and hour earlier than usual. From lack of napping all day I'm sure. I'm a bit irritated but I already talked to my mom about it and we are all good.
Radishes - I can't believe how big E is getting. It really does go by so fast.
Loira - enjoy!
Shauni - I get stressed when my H doesn't come home until 9pm some nights from work. I can't imagine your current schedule. You're awesome. How much longer will it be like this?

Officially until March. But it should stop being so bad by mid January.
To top it off, I got a frantic call from DH saying he totaled his (year old) truck today doing errands for work. So I left at 3:30 to get him and deal with that. We didn’t get home/ get to sage until almost 8
dellabear, we're in the same never ending illness cycle, and I also came down with the flu last week. Right now DS has a bad cold, ear infection, and pink eye. It's never ending!! I just want us all to be well for Christmas.
scm1011, we also found out a friend died in a freak accident doing the same work that G does. So between sleep deprivation, stress, the car accident and the death of a friend we had quite a rough night.

OMG! Big hugs, friend. That's scary and awful. I'm so sorry for your loss.

I'm so sorry. This is so much to deal with. So many hugs.
P is amazing. He's sitting up really well on his own (still tippy tumbling over quite a bit, but unless he goes straight back he doesn't fuss about falling). He drools EVERYWHERE while sitting up. He's pretty much constantly in a bib. He's really loving food and is a VERY HUNGRY BOY. He loves to blow raspberries and squeal-screams A LOT. He enjoys his new found voice.
We haven't introduced peanut butter yet. How did you guys do it? I'm really nervous.
knx9211 , I am obsessed with P. That video of him playing piano killed me dead. I looked at G and said "WE NEED TO GET AN INFANT PIANO!" lol
<3!! I LOVE that damn piano. It was mine from when I was a kid. He gets so damn into it he loses his balance and falls over. Yesterday I couldn't reach to catch him in time and he hit a little part of his head off the bottom of his exersaucer. Didn't even flinch. Just looked at me like "WTF Where did my piano go?" and I sat him back up and he got back to it.

I was going to complain that H's flights are all delayed (just my luck to live in the one Canadian city that has no clue how to deal with snow). I probably won't see him until midnight, if that. But it does seem trivial in comparison.

Thanks, guys. We are in better spirits now. H spoke with his boss and has a plan in place for a more manageable schedule, the truck is just a truck, we will figure something out with that, and H has plans to attend the funeral of his old friend later this week. It all was just a rough, rough day.
I cannot comprehend how it is only Wednesday morning.

E is in the process of dropping her overnight bottle. Sometimes she wakes for a bottle, other nights she sleeps through until about 7. I don't mind getting up to feed her MOTN, but when she gets up after 5am its hard for us both to go back to sleep. This morning she woke at 5:15, I went in and gave her her pacifier a couple of times, but she never went back to sleep. I got her up at 6:30. Is this just something we have to muscle through? Is there anything I can do to make this easier and not have early wake ups every day? She goes to bed at 6:30 (I'd love to stretch this to 7pm but naps need to get better first), and ideally she'd wake up between 6:30 and 7am.
DD has a double ear infection. She's been so sick and miserable. Her fever has been around 103-104, and monday night in the middle of the night we measured 105.4 and we were kind of freaking out. We got it down to 103 with meds, wet rags, switching her pjs for a onesie. Poor poor baby has been so miserable. This morning she finally work up with no fever so I'm hoping she's turning the corner.
We started sleep training about 2 weeks ago and it was actually going really well. We've scrapped it for now, with her being sick. I hope we can get back into it without too much trouble once she's better. Almost right away she went from waking up 3 times at night to just once.

Could you do a dream feed? Get her up before you go to bed and give her a bottle, which will hopefully last her all the way through the night?
mpc, I am sorry to hear that DD is so sick! How scary. Fingers crossed the fever is now gone!
thoseareradishes, S is starting to drop his MOTN feedings too. He had been doing twice a night but recently he does either just 1 or if he does a second one (around 5 am) he eats just a few ounces before going back to sleep. For me, dream feedings don't work--S won't take the bottle. He also never officially wakes all the way (eyes never open) UNLESS I also change him while doing a MOTN feeding. Can you try slowly pushing back her bedtime so she sleeps in a little later? Are you working on naps right now? That is something I am trying to work on over the weekends and it seems to help night sleeping as well. Good luck! I hate early mornings :/

cactuscookie, H was feeding her around 10pm for a while, and I fed her when she woke around 4. A few weeks ago he said that she was still sleeping when he would go up to feed her. So we decided to let her sleep, but she still woke at 4.
shauni27, I would LOVE to push her bedtime back, but she's on the verge of losing it or has lost it by 6:30 already. Her naps are getting better but it's super inconsistent - this morning, she napped for almost two hours, but her second nap was only 20 minutes. She was acting tired so I took her up, but then she didn't want to sleep, so I guess I should have kept her up longer? So I'll probably put her down for a third nap around 3, she'll sleep maybe 30 minutes, then she'll be up until bedtime. No way will she take a 4th nap or be able to stay up later.

Hey all!!! S turned one last week and finished her birthday with RSV and a double ear infection! Poor thing. She was sick for a few days and now this week I'm sick.
I'm getting surgery done on Friday (laparoscopic) to remove cysts, endo, polyp, etc. I hope it goes well.
She is super happy baby but has no desire to walk yet. She loved her cake lol.

I just powered through this with A. She went through a period of sleeping through the night about 60% of the time between the ages of 9-15 months. I tried the dream feed right before bed, but it never really worked for me. She'd either be too tired to take the bottle, or would take one and then still need one sometimes and get up. I gave up and went with it. One thing that really helped me was to set a precedent of not getting her up before 7am unless she was obviously upset. Of course, she was an okay napper, hence the 7pm-7am night schedule.
